In the racial anthropology of the early 20th century, the Armenoid type is a subtype of the Caucasian race. According to anthropologist Carleton Coon, the countries of the northern part of Western Asia, namely Anatolia/Asia Minor, the Caucasus, Iran, Upper Mesopotamia and the Levant, were considered the center of distribution of the Armenoid race.
Armenian from Syria! Origin:Prominent Nazi and racial theorist Hans F. K. Günther used the term 'Near Eastern race' to describe the Armenoid type, and ascribed Near Eastern characteristics to several contemporary peoples, including: Armenians, Jews, Greeks, Georgians, Iranians, Assyrians, Kurds, Syrians/Syriacs, and Turks. Günther regarded Jews as people of multiple racial origins but defined the Near Eastern race as their major basis, and described the race's characteristics such as its "commercial spirit" and as being "artful traders" who had strong psychological manipulation capacities that helped their trade, as well as being known to exploit people. Günther's conception has been criticized for pseudoscientific analysis. Zionists historically identified Jews as within the Armenoid type in the name of the Near Eastern race. Zionists utilized the Armenoid type in the name of the Near Eastern race, and identified Jews as a particular group within that type.
Distribution:The Armenoid race type exists to the west and north of the Arabid race, and encompasses the modern Armenians, Assyrians, Maronites, Greeks, Turks, Kurds, Georgians, Iranians, Israelis, Syrian Arabs, Druze, Yazidis, Shabaks, Mandeans, Mhallami and Syriac-Arameans,[11] together with the ancient ancestors and/or predecessors of these peoples, such as the Assyrians, Akkadians, Babylonians, Chaldeans, Eblaites, Amorites, Canaanites, Kassites, Gutians, Hittites, Hattians, Hurrians, Phrygians, Lydians, Phoenicians, Carthaginians, Medes, Persians, Scythians, Israelites, Samaritans, Judeans, Edomites, Moabites, Ammonites, Philistines, Cilicians, Cappadocians and Minoans among others. “ It has long been believed by physical anthropologists that the quintessence of Near Eastern brachycephaly is to be found in the Armenians; the racial term Armenoid being named for them. The Armenians have long been established in the territory which is now only partly theirs; they had, before the arrival of the Turks, a powerful kingdom, which covered most of the territory between the Gulf of Alexandretta and the Caucasus. ” Types:The Armenoid is divided into four types: Armenid, Anatolid, Assyrid, and Caucasid.
Assyrid - Both Assyrians, Levantine Arabs, and the Maltese people belong to this type. Assyrids are of middling height and generally have a medium build.
Caucasid - Tall slender type prevalent among the people of the Caucasus.

Among Armenians, R1b is more than R1a! In addition, Armenoid type is not an Indo-European, but a typical Middle Eastern! Haplo J! Their closest relatives are European Dinaric!

When I took my DNA tests small percentages of Armenian showed up, likely from Italian side which comes from West Sicily. The Armenoid phenotype is one of my more favorite phenotypes to be honest. My favorites being Atlanto Med, North Atlantid, Berid, East Med, Armenoid, and Anglo Saxon. Probably in that order.

I wonder what it's connected with?

I found interesting information about Armenians in Italy and Sicily:
In Rome, the tombstone of 370 year of an Armenian pilgrim survived. Information about the Armenians in Italy has been preserved since the VI century, when Armenian garrisons under the leadership of the Byzantine commander Armenian origin Narses were transferred to Ravanna. The latter in 555 becomes the exarch of the Byzantine part of Italy. The Byzantine garrison of the city, consisting mainly of Armenians, was called numerus Armeniorum. In the first half of the 7th century the exarch of Ravenna becomes an Armenian Isaac. His mausoleum is in the basilica of San Vitale and is called Gloria dell'Armenia - Glory of Armenia. In the 6th-7th centuries Armenian garrisons of Byzantium were also in Sicily. In 668-669 in Sicily, the Byzantine usurper, the Armenian Mizizios, ruled. The memory of the early medieval presence here of Armenians is preserved in the place of Rocca degli armeni - the fortress of Armenians. Here one more fortress of Kalat al-Armani, which was conquered in 861, is mentioned. In one of the documents relating to the Lateran Council of 646, the Armenian monastery of Renati is mentioned in Rome. His abbot Tallasios took part in the cathedral as a representative of the Eastern Church. In 1008-1010, the Byzantine katepan of Italy was the Armenian John Kurkuas. Man traditionally identified as Narses, from the mosaic depicting Justinian and his entourage in the Basilica of San Vitale, Ravenna.
