Did anyone try this? Hitchhiking? Giving a ride to hitchhikers? I did hitchhike three times in my life. (Maybe more, but I can't remember it.)

No, there ain't no hitchhiking in the USA, at least not where I'm from. Too dangerous. Don't know if the person you're hitchhiking with is a serial killer or if the hitchhiker you're picking up is a serial killer. I'm serious about this too. Hitchhiking used to be a common thing in the United States but many serial killers used it to get ahold of victims, especially women.

Hitchhiking used to be a common thing in the United States but many serial killers used it to get ahold of victims, especially women. I see. Yeah, it's indeed dangerous. It's better not to try this. I thought that many movies about this were just joking. I didn't expect this to be so dangerous. Few years ago I heard about a fact that not many people in some regions of US just walking. I mean literally walking (along the roads). I don't know whether it's true, however considering what you said it sounds now. Anyway, it is dangerous in any case. I did it three times, but in one car as I presumed two suspicions persons gave me a ride. And thank God I quitted early. I started panicking, yet I tried not to show it. And when the first bus-stop happened I said "it's okay to leave me here" and got out. Never know what to expect. I just had to hitchhike that year (in 2020). I used to live in Kozacha Lopan (this rural place had been freed by Ukrainian army about three weeks ago). And I had to cross about 35 miles (55 kilometers) to go home. I don't have a car, and asking my friends to give me a ride wasn't in my rules (I got to spend money on oil, which was absolutely fair, yet I didn't have much spare money to waste 'em like that). And I decided to walk. It was a season when the corona quarantine started, and using any kind of transport was prohibited for few months. Several times I walked strictly 35 kilometers to home, while I couldn't do it all the time, because some times I got to hurry, and two times my legs were hurt (after walking such a long distance). So, only chance to get earlier was to hitchhike. If there were no virus, I really doubt I hitchhiked at least once. And also I decided to make this post, because yesterday I saw movie of Stephen King called "Riding the Bullet" (2004), which is partially about dangers of hitchhiking. And one line from the Door's " Riders on the storm" firmly got into my mind: There's a killer on a road, His brain is squirming like a toad, Take a long holiday, Let your children play If you give this man a ride, sweet family will die Killers on the road, yeah
(By the way, there was recently shot a videoreview of Kozacha Lopan by NBS, here's the video if you want it to see (mainly it's about what's been happening to the place for last six months there). I haven't found it at NBC, so here's the one, but it's titled in Ukrainian)
