This is a very interesting topic as to see where the freemasons got their knowledge from and where it originates. Has anyone heard of this phenomenon or has stumbled across Information?

As know, the masons got their knowledge from the Jewish tradition of the Kabbalah! The origins of Freemasonry in the knights Templar.

Islamic mysticism does seem to appear in Masonic ritual and symbolism, however I believe the same is also true of Kabbalah as Elizabeth said. There is of course a hefty Egyptian influence also, and certainly this strong link with Northern Africa would make a connection between the Moors and Freemasons very likely. I think it's also important to remember though, that the Masons formed at a time when religion, superstition and mysticism were heavily relied on as 'fact' as science was not particlarly strong within the general populus; With that in mind, I would perhaps offer that Masonic ritual and symbolism is an amalgam of many types of mysticism, ritual, and religion, the pieces chopped and changed as they attempted to craft a universal order from their knowledge gathering and exploration over the centuries.
