Ok
Eugene 2.0here it is: a free computer language,
which I will be learning for the first time myself:
www.python.org/I will take you through it with me, (and anyone else interested)
as I have said before I first started programming in 1983,
and after 2 years wrote my first professional program.
So I have substantial experience in a variety of 'basic' languages,
which are very easy to work with because the syntax is very close
to normal language, and 'python' is also very similar to them.
I will be bumping into the same stumbling blocks with you,
and if you get stuck or frustrated, I can give personal assistance.
But its a course with a very clear goal:
To build an evolutionary gravity algorithm.
This can be a solar system, or a galaxy or anything else similar.
Here is my latest article based on a series of 3d-n-body algorithms:
www.flight-light-and-spin.com/n-body/gravity.htmThe most interesting results are here:
www.flight-light-and-spin.com/n-body/mercury.htmThe algorithm we will be emulating is here:
www.flight-light-and-spin.com/n-body/n-body-build.htm(This was written in visual basic 6, which no longer is supported,
so I need to learn a new language anyways).
That program above, is the final goal, but this one
is a much simpler idea of what we will be doing:
www.flight-light-and-spin.com/binary-orbits.htmBut don't worry about all the detail in those articles, its not
important at this early stage, but its good to have a clear goal
of what we are trying to do. Please don't think this requires
any great deal of studying or memorizing complex math.
I'm gonna make it easy as pi.
Just have a look at the language for starters here:
www.python.org/xxxxxxxxxthesageofmainstreetkarlElizabethAre all welcome to join in or anyone else too.
You can join a bit later if you like, there is no rush
no pressure, no strings attached.
Just remember, in any endeavor, the first steps
always seem the hardest... so relax and enjoy it.
Our first program will just to make a virtual
ball bounce around the screen a bit.
We just gonna take it one simple step at a time.
And before you know it we gonna save the world
from the doomsday meteor. ok?!
So is anybody in?
