I think that would be much better to reunion again Belarus, Russia, and Ukraine, as it was in XI century. And then to unite with the other Slavic counties. I don't like the current separation situation between the countries of the Eastern Europe. Slavs must be together as they're brothers. Yeah, that didn't work with Yugoslavia. Take it from an American Southerner, sometimes the seemingly small differences will really get you. Don't think that because another people has a similar language and some superficial cultural similarities to you that you are compatible with them. It is not so.

Invading in modern Ukraine is as stupid as sticking your hand into a dirty toilet. Hasn't Ukraine always been useful to conquerors because it's good farming land? As I recall Hitler wanted to invade it, kill most of the Slavs there and resettle it with German farmers who would enslave the small amount of Slavs he let live on large estates (plantations I guess you'd call them) and turn it into the bread basket of his thousand year Reich. The reason you conquer places and turn them into colonies is for resources and food is the mother of all resources I think.

Take it from an American Southerner, sometimes the seemingly small differences will really get you. Don't think that because another people has a similar language and some superficial cultural similarities to you that you are compatible with them. It is not so. Yes, I do agree with you. Your words hit the target. My opinion is the next one: a) that's true there are differences (I mean almost every fork has it. In China there are numerous dialects and minor groups; I don't even think that "China" is a one union, but rather a kinda union. Almost the same was seen in the Eastern Europe in IX-XI, XVII-XVIII, and XX (USSR)), and it wouldn't be ok not to pay attention to them b) cultural and other differences are matter or more specific logic that necessary includes social and political life, etc (what we usually call "the practical philosophy" or "culturology") c) if there are not interaction and communication between two countries which are presumable might live peacefully, instead of paying attention to their cultural differences we have to concentrate our attention to the practical side - (briefly, it's economical side) - and to deal in this field. d) I don't think that any 'brotherhood' or kinda are really true, except for successful economic. e) I know that it wouldn't be correct to name two countries with good relationships are brother countries, but if they have it - they are brothers f) so 'brotherhood' are in our heads along with the other abstractions. The same is for race. For instance (I put mine own example), I usually separate people not by race, but by a color of hair: dark-haired are less likable from my side, and I mostly like fair-haired people. But unluckily to me (I was sharing this view long long time ago, when I was playing with my bro, who's dark-haired or brunette) in my life I fell in love twice into brunette girls... So, I think such a separation works less less well, than any other ones. g) A paper works better, even if it is a paper. In XVII Ukraine Philip Orly wrote a first text of constitution, but unfortunately it hadn't been ever realized until the end of XX. And I guess that Protestant did really really smart putting the text of Bible to the primary place. It was indeed one of the wisest moves. h) so I guess that either we have to develop more seriously that logic of cultures, or we should concentrate on more real things.

This means that in order to keep this territory forever under your control, you need to give a decent salary to the local population, build up destroyed factories. Build normal highways. Modern Ukraine after 1991 is no longer a granary .. The local population works in Poland and Germany .. In many villages there are no more cows. Etc.. many other local problems.
