Lately, the myth that Women compose 50% of the gaming audience has been circulating with new champions. The idea that Assassins Creed should have a female only protagonist is fine, on its face... but these champions, and their supporters, have missed the reality where genre breakdowns matter a great deal.
The concept that Ubisoft (or any Triple A Gaming Publisher for that matter) "marketing to men" is somehow alienating 50% of their audience when the reality of audience demographics is what it is for specific genres... cannot be called anything other than what it really is. A Myth.

The sims have a large share of female players, while I wouldn't be surprised if 90%+ of those who play the total war series are men.
By my own experience, women have great potential in appreciating games, but often need someone to encourage them. And the determined focus that's required to play through the more advanced games, is lacking in many women. They just don't bother to play it to the end. Games like Bejeweled are better suited for the casual gamer, which is probably one of the reasons why it has many female players.

By my own experience, women have great potential in appreciating games, but often need someone to encourage them. And the determined focus that's required to play through the more advanced games, is lacking in many women. They just don't bother to play it to the end. Games like Bejeweled are better suited for the casual gamer, which is probably one of the reasons why it has many female players.
So, it must be obvious that each genres have relevant categories of players, and with no general picture of stats of this there's no complete answer. |

This isn't meant to be sexist, but more often than not, women ruin gaming. This woman being the perfect example:  Also, what's wrong with being white, straight and male? Because that's basically what she's implying. It's like taking issue with a gay, black character on a Tv show just because that character is gay and black. No doubt she is too much of a moron to realize she's being a racist, sexist, heterophobic hyprocrite. As for games being marked to a primarily male audience... this youtube comment sums up the issue well: "I hate when make-up companies continue to use young, vibrant women in their advertising, they are literally ostracising 50% of their male customers who also wear make-up." BTW, I personally don't really care for the game getting a female lead or leads. I think the assassins creed series of games suck! |

I would say she does what is a nowaday trend or what is fashion today. And this is sooooo feminine... I mean most of women do like her. I see and meet female students and women in the city whose practice is to do what is fashionable and to wear the most newest brands, to drive the latest models of cars... And this practice, you know, I would compare it to not really wise /I mean sage, clever/ action. These practices don't characterize them as the smart species. If I would talk just what is trend I would appear smart and fashionable, but I could be a complete dumb ass, who knows completely nothing, and who is a total douchebag. So, for me women become smarter than men when and only when they stop wishing and leaning toward all these newest newer fashionable trend gibberish. |

Well, women are wired to pick and gather berries and take care of children so they play Hidden Object games and games like the Simms. Men are made to hunt mammoths and wage war against enemy tribes so we tend to like violent videogames like Assassins Creed. We also like hot women so a female-only lead in an Assassins Creed game could really work for their demographic as Lara Croft did in Tomb Raider. Unfortunately, they'll probably put some bull dyke as the main character as the so-called, "feminists," tend to really hate femininity.

Maybe.. but learning of it never made me feel happy. I would say that the discovery itself was a shock and you can try to deny it, you can try to make sense of it, and you can try to work around it.
