If the difference between sin and evil lies in the knowledge or, respectively, in the ignorance that a certain deed is wrong, then knowledge is a curse rather than a blessing and, more importantly, it confuses culpability with the basis/reason of what makes a deed wrong [with the wrongness of a deed]. I do not agree with the position that wrongness consists in the disobedience of a law or or a divine edict. The mind of the author belongs to the Neolithic Age of kings (who reward or punish the obeyers or disobeyers of their orders....)The Bible belongs to that Age, not to the Age of Reason.

When someone chooses to mentally stagnate, the person will cease to acknowledge mistakes, and hence refuse to learn from those mistakes. This renders the distinction between intentional and non-intentional harmful acts meaningless. The person who harms others because of his/her narrow mindedness is guilty, irregardless of however one might have rationalized one's actions.
Evil is ultimately the lack of will to acquire insight.

Another nicely put together PowerPoint. Glad you're always using God's word in delivering these. In that way you can never be wrong because God is never wrong

You mention knowledge being a curse. Countless human lives have been lost in the past owing to the ignorance of personal hygiene. Will you consider knowledge here a curse? They did not know, yet they perished anyway. In what way does this confuse culpability? At no point did wrong become right, yet will you sentence a child for a wrong the same way that you would, an adult for the same wrongdoing?

Plus 1 on this fine work. You likely already know of secular law term of mens rea. It is a test for evil intent or mindedness. Without an evil intent, or mind, there is no culpability for the crime or sin. Regards DL

A new definition I do not accept. Is becoming an idolater an expression of mental stagnation? They, Christian idol worshipers, do not acknowledge the mistakes and evil in Yahweh or Jesus. Many Christian moral tenets are not moral at all yet Christians but many Christians refuse to lean that. Is that the type of mistakes you are talking about? Regards DL

Yet Yahweh repented for doing evil a number of times. The same with Jesus. IE. Armageddon. Do you think mass murder good or evil when Yahweh/Jesus use it? Regards DL

You mention knowledge being a curse. This would be the normal Christian thinking. At least I think that that is what it is. Eating from the tree of all knowledge, created Original Sin. That seems like a curse, no? It is hard to say as Christians sing of sin being a happy fault and necessary to Yahweh's vile plan. Christians seem conflicted on this Original sin thing. Perhaps you can correct me, or them. Regards DL
