How have ancient and present tactics changed or remained the same though...not necessarily in movies.

Most significant change is the drastic increased range of weaponry. One usually does not send in hordes of soldiers in close combat with the enemy. -Although in city fighting, a lot of modern weaponry is nullified, unless one is willing to disregards civilian casualties.

In the actual battle, yes. The movie looked more like it was based on a comic book presentation of it.

You're right. The movie 300 is based on the comic book of the same name written by Frank Miller. It's supposed to be reminiscent of a campfire story about the battle rather than being grounded in hyper reality. I think there's also an older classic movie literally called 300 Spartans that inspired Frank Miller to write the Comic Book as well.

Thanks, Karl. What a jerk would I not knowing anything about this great and decent battle? A sad, but true example of Pyrrhic victory. I mean i laughed insanely watching the movie. As a comedy this film is fascinating.
