Fresh from acquiring Bethesda, Microsoft are apparently in talks to buy some studios in Japan, Bloomberg have reported: "Several Japan-based game developers, from small to big, said [Microsoft] had approached them about buying their businesses." The developers in question wished to remain anonymous, but this gels with a statement Xbox head Phil Spencer made last year, that "it would be nice if we found an Asian studio, in particular a Japanese studio". -- www.pcgamer.com/microsoft-is-looking-to-buy-japanese-studios-according-to-report/

New developers – fresh ideas and less biasedness. I don't believe mimimicrosoft will diminish censorship and start digging new ideas, instead of constantly monitoring the market.
Japs companies were better, anyway.

Like how Windows turning to crap has increased the market share of Linux; If Microsoft does the same with the game development industry, we'll probably witness a golden age for indie games.

Unfortunately not so many game developers work together. I think having serious base for creating game together will be very helpful. And also microsoft itself and its epigons have the really powerful advertisement tool, so to compete with them cost a lot of anyone; people usually buy or check what is popular, i.e. as Steven Pinker said "they know what everyone else know, and everyone else know that everyone else know too..." – it was said about the very first advertising of Macintosh where Sigourney Weaver act running with a torch. But I do hope in a good non-corporation future. I guess corporations are needed to be crash as any empires who try to conquer the world.

I guess your idea is the most true. What I guess is the most super dumb and idiotic thought of microsofts is that they think to decrease sells of PlayStation and Nintendo through cut the appearance their competetors in the market... Microsoft needs to start creating adequate, interesting, playable, and – the most relevant – games which the players like to sell they damned discs. Why tastes of players are out of corporations priorities? The corporation are planning to change people's behaviour? It's the crystal dictatorship.

Both Nintendo and PlayStation have their own loyal fanbase all around the world especially in Japan. Never forget good exclusive titles/franchise; e.g. Mario = Nintendo and Nintendo = Mario. Microsoft tries to establish something like Netflix in video game universe. Some gamers may like a service/subscription-based platform, but many others prefer classic "owning" method. Look at GOG; providing DRM-free games and offline installers = success.
