A pretty terrific event. However I don't believe a word of it. Women haven't got such powers as men, so if they killed (and they did kill many many times during the history) they did it filthy and sneakily by the hands of the men. Just remember lady Macbeth to understand the point.
Women cannot be killers indirectly; they kill, but cheating and playing with men to make them do all dirty work.

I don't care if they are men or women, murderers of this caliber should not be given any type of accreditation in print, verbally or on tv/cinema. Yes if it is needed to capture them I agree so it will help the police but once jailed, throw away the key. No one should be 'famous' or 'world famous' for taking a life or lives.

Lorac, what do you think about learning what is good and what is bad by watching different types of movies (or reading various sorts of books etc)? I mean if I wanted to teach my child to know what good or bad is, I had to show them both of them – of course using metaphors or indirect examples. I can agree that examples of bad people on a screen is, probably, one of the most vast problems in Ethics. While it doesn't always mean a child would follow a bad example instead of a good one... However, who knows? Among the others, two examples come into my mind: English legend of Robert Diablo and "Problem Child" (and "Problem Child 2"), and in the first one we might see an example of extreme cruelty that had turned into its absolute opposite: an outrageous bandit become a holy monk. And the movie shows that following bad habits happen because of lack of attention or kinda. – So, the more we ignore "not-like-us" people, the more antisocial they become.

Eugene, of course I did not mention children (I was talking about adults) but as parents of course one has the responsibility of teaching their child right from wrong. How to approach this must be governed by knowing your child and at what stage an introduction would be helpful in their education of right and wrong. For younger children as you say giving examples (ie whilst in the playground/park with you) and one child hits another. Schools should also address this in their curriculum as part of the development of children.
Age appropriate I think is the word needed when learning what is good/bad in reference to movies/books. Parents have more control whilst the child is young, as they get older it is more difficult. Hopefully with teaching a child carefully you as a parent give the bases of good values to start with in life. With so many games, gamers know there are many are shoot to kill/let's blow them all to hell games. Yes, there is an age restriction but difficult to enforce. If a child is exposed to this form of violence when too young it will leave a terrible image, hard to eradicate from thought processes that children are not able to cope with.

Children that seek attention are the most problematic, they should not be ignored as this can most certainly lead to antisocial behavior. We have had in the last few years that I know of, at least 2 child killers under 10 I believe. Why did this happen if we know these are the children that need lots of help, the system/parents/schools etc let them down. So we have ourselves to blame when they turn into serial killers, thus why I said 'do not give any type of accreditation in print, verbally or on tv/cinema. Talk and discuss so children may come to understand that there are serial killers but do not make them heroes in those child's eyes.

Mariead Philpott Derby Child Killer release Some killers should be locked up and the keys thrown away. Yes, I believe some may ‘Find God’ and change but that should be up to the Drs etc to decide. Even saying that, here we have had several so called ‘repentance’ prisoners that have gone on to kill again after their release. A tragedy of the Legal System...those poor children to have died as they did by both parents hands.
