Played the demo version when I was a teen and I remember there were some kind of ape-like characters in this game. They were not playable in demon version.

One of the AI alien opponents looked a bit like an ape.
The game works well in dosbox. It can also be played using "virtual pc 2007", for example by installing windows 98 in it, or just DOS for that matter.
