Many people would like to live in past not in present time! In what era would you like to visit or live if it was possible of course!

You've visited prehistoric sites? Were one of them Stonehenge by any chance? No. I have only visited the sites in Kenya. Hyrax Hill and Olorgasaillie in the Rift Valley. I am planning to visit Kobi Fora in the Jade Sea I have only watched a documentary of the Stonehenge. I hope to visit the place some day in my lifetime

Honestly, when you really start thinking about quality of life beyond the romanticised nostalgia of bygone historical periods, why would anyone go back?
Like, I find the whole 1700s Caribbean thing, "Golden Age of Piracy" and stuff, all really fascinating, and I'd probably have picked that to answer the topic question. But if I were literally born in 1680 in time to be relevant to Post-Spanish Succession piracy, I'd have to deal with things like: > Their barbaric quality of medical care and general hygiene > Complete lack of instant international communication > Being killed by pirates > Being killed by European military as a pirate > Living under questionable or non-existent law enforcement > Living under superstitious or religious regimes > Finding a job to pay for everything that doesn't involve getting killed by pirates or European military
The list goes on. And such problems apply to literally every time period prior to WWII. Any time after WWII is fair game to be honest.
I think the only real answer to the question is "Being born in modern society, I was born in the best historical period. All we need to do is wind the clock back to 2006, figure out what the hell went wrong and fix society from there".

This is a pretty amusing question, but in reality I wonder how many would actually be up for the task of living in another era. For example if you picked Ancient Greece, would you be okay with chattel slavery? Would you be able to enjoy the various activities and traditions of city-life knowing it was governed on the backs of slaves? How would you feel if you were captured herding goats and brought to a new city as a slave? Or how about the medieval ages, are you okay with being a serf? Would you be okay with living in a society where women were reduced to property and given no voice of their own? Ethically and morally society has developed an aversion to many things which used to be okay, could you really overlook this?
It's easy and lazy to romanticize the past, because it makes many of our grievences with the present more bearable. It's important to have a pragmatic understanding of the past, roman society for example wasn't just a lower tech version of our present society. Romans were shaped and raised in a culture of customs, traditions and norms different to us, on a level that we'd likely have a hard time relating to other people or even knowing basic behaviour and politeness.

This is a good point. But there is always something negative found in history and even today. The thing I picked for my response in this discussion is to go back in time and be Cleopatra. I think being a ruler of some kind is better in the past because you have that power to change the bad things. So would you think the better title would have been which is the best historical time to travel too that has the least amount of negative things in it? XD

When I was in high school I often play medieval themed hack n slash video games, so I thought that riding a horse while carrying the bow and arrow was cool, but now i really want to live during the renaissance era just for the sake to meet Leonardo Da Vinci

I think Ancient Athens during its short but memorable golden age would be perfect for me. China during the Han dynasty and Venice or Florence in Italy during the Renaissance would be amazing too.

It would be cool to live during the cold war/post-ww2 era in any of the developed nations, far back enough to live through some amazing events, and not so far back where hygiene would be a tough issue to tackle in daily life.

I don't think I have any specific time period I'd like to visit. I'm more interested seeing how my ancestors lived as I have relatives from Sweden, Denmark and Macedonia. Also some of the stories I've heard indicates that some of my Danish relatives were Roma. I would like to go back and find out more about my ancestry.

The Han Dynasty was the second imperial dynasty in Chinese history. This dynasty was a long one – it was established during the 3rd century BC and lasted all the way until the 3rd century AD. It was a golden age in Chinese history and its influence can still be felt even today. Members of China’s majority ethnic group even refer to themselves as the Han, and Chinese script is known as ‘Han characters’.

It would be cool if I was born in the 1000s so I could establish a huge empire.

Honestly though people tend to idealize the past when in reality it sucked arse. Modern day man has the highest standard of living of anyone in history. I don't want to live in a society run by an aristocracy where I spend most of my day plowing wheat in a field for some dude in a castle for example.
