I just found out that it's a tradition for men in China (maybe Japan too) to carry their girlfriend's purse. Would you do it guys?Personally, I'm glad this isn't a tradition in the US. I would REALLY DISLIKE a guy carrying my purse. The only good thing I see about it is that it's cute but it looks gay for me to see a guy with a purse. Maybe rarely it's ok if she needed him to carry it for her. Like if I accidently forgot my purse in the car or something then I might ask him to go get it. Or if I'm carrying too many things already and realized I still need my purse so I'd ask for help. Otherwise, I can carry my own stuff. I don't like to be babied or treated like a child. I want to do things myself. It's not that I won't ask for help if I need it because I will. One thing that happens every so often is I can't unscrew the cap on my water bottle or soda and I'll ask a guy for help. But that's also embarassing for me! I'll do it though if I see that it's the best option. But I don't like embrassing myself so will avoid it and I'll purposely not ask for help to make them think I'm weak in some situations or something and I won't ask them to do something to make them feel used. Like, "she just keeps me around because she likes me being her servant". No! This is why I carry my purses all the time and do things myself unless I need help. Also...what if some guys are bad and run off with some girl's purse! It's so easy to be thieves for people like that. They'll think, "Oh, I'll just ask to carry her purse and she'll hand it over no problem and I'll get my money that way." Yeah, no. I got brothers so I don't fall for that trick anymore! So too many cons for me on this.

Only if it was very heavy, maybe we were shopping and she put something heavy in there, potatoes, building materials, tools, 10 kilograms.

What would you do if you had one? Will you carry the purse?

Yes, I would, and I have done that, because I like to be helpful and I cast all cautions out of the window. I do not avoid doing something because of some impression I might create about myself. At the same time I realize that impressions/opinions may be important. So, I should not generalize my behavior and cast all cautions out of the window ( as I have the tendency to do).

It's just a purse, ffs. If she asks you to carry it, carry it. She just might do something special for you later- you never know
