For some reason the AncestryDNA results don't match up with the other results. Do you think they are flawed? (Raw AncestryDNA uploaded to MyHeritage) (From MyHeritage spit kit) (Geneplaza k29)

I hear that all the companies will give you different results. Will be super rare for exact results. They will be similar though. I only did 23andMe and MyHeritage and got different results but they agreed on most things but there were some interesting differences.

Ancestry.com seems to be the odd one out. What do you reckon?

Different algorithms among testing companies. However MyHeritage is known to be one of the least accurate testing companies. They have become notorious for inaccurate results. The tests that are praised for their accuracy have been Ancestry and 23andMe.

I know to take these results with a huge grain of salt, but would you say it's likely that I have a southern european great-grandparent?

I am not sure if it would be a full Southern European Mediterranean Great Grandparent. However in your GEDmatch you score decent in Iberian and Italian descent. But that is likely much older DNA. It would be considered on the higher side for someone from the British Isles for example but not super abnormal. The way certain people inherit certain DNA percentages is a bit odd though. The way DNA is passed down is random. Maybe post your k13 results? K36 chops everything up into so many categories. I’d be curious to see your West Med and East Med split along with West Asian.
I had to edit my comment because I was thinking about Grandparent, instead of a Great Grandparent.

I would say no probably not a full blooded Southern European Mediterranean Great Grandparent. However in your GEDmatch you score decent in Iberian and Italian descent. The way certain people inherit certain DNA percentages is a bit odd though. I would have thought you might have had a Great Grandparent of perhaps half Southern European ancestry but again the way DNA is passed down is random. Maybe post your k13 results? K36 chops everything up into so many categories. I’d be curious to see your West Med and East Med split along with West Asian. Here you go..

But yes looking at these results I think it’s fairly safe to assume you probably had a Southern European Mediterranean Great Grandparent. The algorithm differences account for the different results. What are you on paper? To your knowledge do you have a Greek or Sicilian Great Grandparent?

But my paternal grandmother looks Greek or Italian to me. There are also a lot of celebrities with Italian heritage who look like my dad. Here's a picture of my paternal grandmother (her natural hair is black btw)

It’s interesting because MyHeritage will often assign Polish ancestry to Balkan. I know their system has exaggerated Italian DNA for people. It’s also been known to sometimes give people a notorious 1% Nigerian. Your Grandma doesn’t look stereotypically Italian or Greek to me. However something to note is there is often chunks of Mediterranean ancestry in people of the British Isles. There are a lot of Mediterraneanized looking Brits, especially in Wales.
