You're thoughts on them? I think some are good and some are bad.
Shays's Rebellion was a good one (not how they rebelled but the outcome that things got better). It was one of the major factors that led to the writing of the new Constitution.

I've always had great sympathy for the Haitian Revolution despite the subsequent genocide of white Haitians and how the country of Haiti itself ended up. As bad as slavery in the American South was, the slavery on the sugar plantations of the Caribbean were far worse. Slaves were worked to death in the sugar fields because the plantation owners were so rich that they could afford to import more from Africa. Basically the black Haitians in many if not most cases had to rebel or die a miserable death in the sugar fields. The Haitian Revolution was also built on the same enlightenment ideals that the American one was built on. Unfortunately it descended into authoritarianism and the black Haitians killed the white Haitians of French descent in a horrible genocide and the nation of Haiti became an authoritarian and desperately poor country.

Would you say things still got better for the slaves? Yes, they at least lived full lives mostly. On a sugar plantation they had three years to live tops. The French had it down to a science.

Riots are always bad. This is a mess. Iniquity! Don't focus on the fighting part but after it. Did some problems lead to resolutions by confrontation?

Well, I think that some of people (and some of nations) get used to act by rebelling or some sorta styles in their struggles for something. It doesn't good in any way (in this I agree with Diamond), but there are some situation that you can't avoid this type of struggle, for example, if you need to protect your wife or children of being murdered, splattered, or shreddered, you need to do something using your muscles not of the brain only. That's why we've got so many laws of self-d-fense. There are many cases in which a man who was trying to save his family uses force. The brilliant example we can find in Marvel's hero - The Punisher. He lost his family, but trying to save them he used force. Wasn't it good, ha? He intended to save his children and wife, and to use guns was ultimately necessary. This idea should inspire us on the necessity of carrying weapon for all the married man - like in the late XIX in USA. Besides, sometimes there's no way to do without any rebellion. The one of the examples is Ukraine. Thankfully to the rebellion many mafioso were jailed (just like Kingpin's bunches and the other members of crimes in the Punisher's comics), and killed. There are some left and their covering their asses by govt's places, but they will be found near soon and they will pay for all their crimes. Also, look at the example of any forced type of cannibalism. I think you all heard of that disaster case in the Syberia, where some fishermen filled their stomachs with new tasty food. Also, there are many examples of such things in the world. And I think that for any smart guy walking in the night with his beloved one is strongly recommended to wear a handy weapon or to have the black belt in Karate to be able to react in time and smash a skull of anyone who dares to look at her girlfriend! So, do rebellion if there's nothing left to do. Resources and some useful links: Cannibals from the Great SyberiaRussian Cannibals in Present Days (Russian text link)Be Careful in What You Cook

Sometimes they are necessary. I have always been very interested in them particularly the American Revolution and the Cuban Revolution.

A REBELLION WHERE GOOD PEOPLE DECIDE TO REBEL AGAINST EVIL RULERS TO ESTABLISH A BETTER LIFE SOUNDS LIKE A GOOD REBELLION. A GOVERNMENT OF EVIL PEOPLE WHO MAKE AND ENFORCE EVIL POLICIES THAT GOES AGAINST THAT WHICH IS GOOD AND GODLY IS A GOVERNMENT THAT NEEDS TO BE ABOLISHED.
THE UNITED STATES FOR EXAMPLE IN HISTORY WAS ORIGINALLY A BRITISH COLONY AND THE REBELS DECIDED THAT THE CURRENT GOVERNMENT WAS NOT GOOD FOR THEM AND THEY REBELLED AND BECAME THE UNITED STATES. I THINK IT WAS 13 COLONIES ORIGINALLY AND NOW WE OFFICIALLY HAVE 50 STATES.
THE LAW OF THE LAND ORIGINALLY WAS THAT EVERYONE WAS ALLOWED TO BE ARMED. THAT FREEDOM IS NOT HERE ANYMORE AND THE GOVERNMENT MAKES DISCRIMINATION AS TO WHO IS ALLOWED TO HAVE A FIREARM AND WHO IS NOT ALLOWED.
I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT A LONG TIME AGO YOU WERE ALLOWED TO DRIVE A CAR THAT WAS NOT INSURED. MAYBE THE 1980'S WAS A TIME IT WAS LIKE THAT.
I REMEMBER BUYING FOOD FOR SOMEONE WHO I SAW OUTSIDE OF A RESTARAUNT AND WHEN I LEFT A SECURITY GUARD ASKED ME IF THEY ASKED FOR MONEY. THE CALIFORNIA GOVERNMENT HAS CURRENTLY MADE IT THE LAW THAT IT IS ILLEGAL FOR PEOPLE TO ASK FOR MONEY. WHEN I HAVE MORE THAN ENOUGH MONEY TO COVER MYSELF AND MY PARTY I STILL GIVE TO PEOPLE THAT HAVE NO MONEY SO THEY CAN BUY WHAT THEY WANT. I THINK IF YOU CAN HELP SOMEONE IN NEED THEN YOU SHOULD. I THINK BANNING PEOPLE FROM ASKING FOR MONEY IS A WAY TO TRY TO OPPRESS THE POOR.

Do you think the rebellion in 70AD at Jerusalem that was prophesied by Christ was good or bad? Can you quote this verse? I'm really bad with history and don't even know of a Jerusalem rebellion Sorry I didn’t know you replied to my post Matthew 24:1-2 [1] And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple: and his disciples came to him for to shew him the buildings of the temple. [2] And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_Jewish–Roman_WarBasically, the Jews protested and revolted against Roman taxation and attacked Roman officials and citizens they considered to be traitors. In response, the Romans plundered the Temple in 66AD which upset the Jews enough for them to react with rebellions in where they took control of Jerusalem from the Romans. The Romans responded and sent the Syrian army in to quell the revolt, but it was ambushed by Jewish rebels on the way to Jerusalem. 6,000 Romans were massacred. Later that year, rebellions within the Jewish rebellion itself occurred in where a Jewish leader attempted to take control of Jerusalem but failed, he was executed and many of his rebels were ejected from the city. In 67AD a Roman general and his son were given the task of crushing the rebellion. They strategically attacked and took control of rebel strongholds in Galilee, which drove the remaining rebel forces and refugees into Jerusalem creating a lot of turmoil which resulted in conflict between Jewish faction leaders and eventually resulted in the outbreak of bloody violence. The Sadducees eventually took control after inviting 15,000 militiamen into Jerusalem, but fighting amongst Jewish factions continued through 69AD. Roman military operations were stopped during this time due to civil war and political turmoil within Rome itself during this time, until the Roman general in charge of crushing the Jewish rebellion was elected emperor. After this, his son took command of the legion and besieged Jerusalem in 70AD. During this seige, Jews were still fighting amongst themselves while fighting the Romans at the same time which resulted in the burning of all of Jerusalem’s food supplies. Finally after many months of seiging the Romans were able to take the city and when they did they plundered and destroyed the Temple. Hopefully it’s not too much to read. I tried to summarize it as short as I could.

I tried to summarize it as short as I could. Well, God's in control and needed it to happen so it must. I'll say it's neutral because it wasn't stated as good or bad by good but just an event that had to occur. And since I don't know history, I always thought that verse meant that when God destroys the world one day there will be nothing left. But either way both can be true for that verse

I am a fan of the Cuban revolution, led by Fidel Castro. I always admired how loud he was in the face of imperialism.
