I think we can all agree that history has shown us (through Napoleon and Hitler) that the most ideal way to take over Eastern Europe is through diplomacy, as invasions in Russia don't usually carry out so well. Do you think the tides have changed since then?

Well, that means war. So "no comment".
But on the other hand, we have Sun Tzu
“The supreme art of war is to subdue the enemy without fighting.” ― Sun Tzu, The Art of War
“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.” ― Sun Tzu, The Art of War
“Let your plans be dark and impenetrable as night, and when you move, fall like a thunderbolt.” ― Sun Tzu, The Art of War
“Supreme excellence consists of breaking the enemy's resistance without fighting.” ― Sun Tzu, The Art of War
“Victorious warriors win first and then go to war, while defeated warriors go to war first and then seek to win” ― Sun Tzu, The Art of War
Remember these in your quest for the Carribean Islands. If the world had a few more people like that maybe we wouldn't be on the verge of destroying each other every 10 seconds.

You just gotta pull a Mongol's. How do you mean? Force them to pay tribute to you, and if they don't you go in raid them and burn down their cities. Mongol's 101

You just gotta pull a Mongol's. How do you mean? The Mongols did what Hitler and Napoleon couldn't do. They conquered Russia during winter. The Mongols are the exception to everything.

Back then Russia, Ukraine, and Belarus were one kingdom called the Kievan Rus but Siberia was not a part of Russia back then so it was much smaller than modern day Russia.

Back then Russia was not what we think of well Russia, the Slavic culture was still in its early days becoming what we know of it today, also Russia didn't have Siberia yet they were west of the Ural mountain range at this point.

For my advanced placement European History class, I made a google slide about the history of the Slavic people. But people found it boring because I kept to the facts and didn't do anything funny etc. Smh

Russia as a nation did not exist during the time of the Mongols. It was the Mongolian invasion that galvanised Muscovy, Novogrod and other areas to eventually unify into the Russian Empire to my knowledge. Thereafter, Russia just kept expanding eastwards into the colossal nation we know today. In response to the OP though, the issue with any long-term invasion of Russia is logistics and winter. Because historically, the Russians had a habit of just dragging you into hopeless attrition and when your poorly dressed French/German troops/tanks start freezing solid quite literally, then you're done. And let us not forget that because of how stupidly large Russia is, it makes up for the fact that in more focused conflicts such as the Crimean War, Russia lost spectacularly to the British and the French. It doesn't matter if your troops are trained better if they starve to death because your supply lines break. Conscription in Russia used to be for LIFE before reforms in the late 19th century and the vast majority of the population were serfs until then too. They were bound to the land they lived on, were the property of the local noble family and could be bought, sold and sent off to the army on a whim. So what it lacked in discipline and equipment, it made up for in manpower. Of course, there were immense issues with this system but for the longest time, it did work until the world thoroughly modernised. And even then, the Russians just changed their tune and adapted a little.

It was an alliance with the Mongols which was beneficial to confront the Vatican. Yes, the Mongols were unfair .. but this is typical of the Middle Ages! Union with the Mongols gave access to their territory.. so it was quite profitable!
