So what do members here think of the headlines about Donald Trump?
I find him particularly interesting due to his influence on the Media. His background as a successful trader, which was bound to help US Economy. and of course, the fact the mans just gone and created a S P A C E F O R C E which is like S T A R W A R S BUT IN REAL LIFE.
I'm definitely looking forward to the inevitable first testing of the highly original, top secret, something nobody could ever see coming in 1,000,000 years S P A C E N U K E getting fired, and some poor innocent settlement getting bombarded by the intense heat of Nuclear Fusion all in the name of American Glory and "avoiding personnel loss". (Throwback to MOAB)
Im personally still waiting for the days we make laws like "we all must have a tree in our garden to combat the plague from them all getting cut down", "we all must have a shrub in the main hall so as to impose your botanical prowess on new visitors at the first instance". Something that builds upon the products we have today, and makes me going to the shops to get a $5 cactus and a lobelia bush a life defining moment worthy of praise.
I think MAGA should be about raising the human consciousness by helping the ,people achieve a bit more. Not about raising a feet of men several thousand miles above the earth in a mother ship so they can destroy yet another impoverished nation. I'd be curious to hear any members thoughts about his accomplishments.

Well, he is a big influence for sure but he also can use that to do a lot of damage and there are people who don't take him as a serious and grounded leader. Shrug

Well, he is a big influence for sure but he also can use that to do a lot of damage and there are people who don't take him as a serious and grounded leader. Well it's not really that for me. Maybe it's not a big deal. But he started a T R A D E W A R in the EU. Then a few days later he's in the papers giving it: "And I Pray Americas nuclear arsenal will never be used!."Then, after saying that. And all the infighting in America based on Russian collusion. He goes to a summit in the EU, and what happens? "I want Russia to be included again despite the fact its absolutely massive and pounding on a small patch of farmland like Ukraine." BRB Nobody seems to register these two events happening together, at all. And then Trump goes home to the Nukes he'll never use. And only goes and makes the S P A C E F O R C E like "by the way lads....." He does admittedly do brilliant for the US Economy from what I see. But he makes discrimination great again, and seems to be on the verge of war. Anyone who tries to put a stop to it seems to run in to a brick wall. Just seems like modern white collar crime to me. Some people wanted him gone and he's never been on the level ground to have a fair hearing. He's just running around mental.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Although with the highest black death rate America has ever had being propagated by the Trump administrations right wing agenda discrimination (The last time a right wing organisation rose to power in the US, it was the KKK and burning crosses were the norm). So it doesn't sound like, for the main casualties, there would be much they could do. I sympathise with the situation there greatly with regards to healthcare though. Trumps economical structure could have at least worked out a way to not have it cost you $100k next time you concieve what could be a future president. Really makes you appreciate the simple things, like how america could have avoided trump entirely with a simple, $3 coathanger.

Trump is malignant narcissist, a sociopath, a psychopath, liar, an adulterer. a thief, a divider, a pervert and war mongerer, he is incapable of speaking truth and he believ, he has no empathy for anyone or any situation, except himself and his children. He demands personal loyalty like Hitler, Mussolini and all dictators but Loyalty is a one way street,
Just wait until after the mid term elections in November. He got a man onto the Supreme Court of the US, that believes that the President of the U.S. can not be indicted, investigated or removed from office for any reason. He is just winding up
George W. Bush blamed the fact that his father beat back Saddam in a 100 day war. He correctly believed that to win a second term as President the war would have to drag on past the next election, for who is going to vote out a war president.
He was right. Trump knows this, but he had a lot to do in his first term, like tax breaks for himself and the wealthy, who actually hold the reins of power in the U.S., bloating the Defense Budget to justify reducing or eliminating Social Security, Medicare, Medicare, and other social programs that help the middle and lower classes.
He will use our burgeoning debt, the one he and the Republicans created, as an excuse to cut or eliminate social programs.
The real powers to be realized in the 1960's amd 1970's when the affluent children of the middle class rose up hit the streets, demanded and got change and upending the patriarchial social order, with Civil Rights, integration, voting for all that the problem was a middle class, the bourgeoisie, too much time on their hands, too well fed, clothed, housed and worst of all educated.
The only way to restore the power of the patriarchy, especially the really wealthy and powerful, was to destroy the middle class and return to a neo feudal system of serfs and quasi serfs.
Trump is their current agent, and it started with Ronald Reagan.

So he perfectly represents the American people. Some, not all, just those who voted for him and support him. They look at him as a reflection of themselves. The majority of the American public are embarassed of him, abhor him, but because of the way that U.S. elections are structured and conducted, not to mention interfered with by the likes of Putin, we are stuck with a man that actually like G W Bush lost the election.
For education purposes, the electoral system of the United States was structured to appease the slave holding states, when the constitution was being written and subsequently implemented.
The south had a smaller population of whites than did the northern states, but they had a larger population when you include slaves, thus they dereed that blacks were to be considered 2/3rds of a person. This was important when a census was conducted because Congressional representatives were based on population, this gave the slave owning states more representation in congress than the northern states.
As a further sop to the slave states, the constitution gives each state 2 senators. Senators originally appointed by state legislatures and governors. The result was that we have a ridiculous situation where a state with such a small population like North Dakota which has only one Congressional representative has 2 Senators, and a state like California with millions of people also has 2 representatives and you quickly see that the Senatorial power resides in the so called Bible Belt and midwest, both regions of which are very religious and for all intents and purposes are led around like sheep by the men who preach from them from the pulpit, and the local press which represents the powers that be, the monied men of the region, those that can afford to buy advertising which is their main source of revenue.
Trump lost the election by 3 million votes, more if all of those who voted or tried to vote, could vote and had their votes counted, but he is President because of this archaic electoral college a vestige of the time when men owned other men.
Twas the same thing with George W. Bush.

So he [Trump] perfectly represents the American people. Some, not all, just those who voted for him and support him. Hillary Clinton is no different from Trump. The only difference is the sales pitch. So the American people nominated 2 flavors of scum in the primaries and then got to pick in the general election. The (culturally) America people themselves are just absolute scum.

Au contraire Trump is much, much worse than Hillalry. Admittedly she disgusts me and I have not voted since I voted for Goldwater in 1964. I don't like, don't trust Hillary, but Trump is a malignant, sociopath, a liar and a pervert.
I do agree that the American people nominated two flavors of "scum" as you put it, and then gave us a choice of the two, but one was absolutely worse than the other and has proved it.
Americans are no more (culturally) absolute scum than the rest of the world, especially Europe which has nothing to talk about. People are people, and the worse influences seem to dominate
This social democrat says that their is a lot amiss about America, and a lot of wrongs to correct, and we can't start until we clean up the mess made when, in all good faith, men of the Englightment struggled (vainly)to put together a document that would bind all of the states, which then perceived themselves independent and sovereign, into a cohesive interdependent and mutually supporting unit.
The U.S.of A was built on the backs and blood of the poor, the unprivileged, the non whites who have been consistently exploited, deprived of land an property, murdered and disenfranhised from it's beginning to today. It has a long way to go to clean up it's mess, but to tell the truth, I'd be hard pressed to find another country with as much to offer.
Can you name one, an alternative. I am all ears.

I am not interested in debate, there is no point. I will just share my personal view. I am a reactionary. I haven't been to Europe in a long time, so I can't comment on those people. But here in America, the people absolutely disgust me. All modern cultural Americans are vile human scum who fill me with disgust and rage. I am a reactionary who supports traditional values, which Americans completely lack. The villain in the movie "Dirty Harry" has the character of the modern American. My feelings towards Americans are best expressed by Clint Eastwood in this clip:

Before Trump I could walk safely through a small rural neighborhood without concern. Now people yell out their windows "God hates Fags" and "why do you walk that way". - I don't know any deeper sign or indicator of the rise of an authoritarian regime than a man that makes citizens speak in ways they hadn't before.
The Westboro Baptist Church was once on the fringe. Now this speech which seeks to eliminate has been normalized and encouraged as a sign of moral superiority.

All that Trump did was to teach the Right to speak like the Left. The Left has been insulting people for the last 10 or 15 years.
