Some legends tell us about chopped or severed heads. They talk, laugh and even singing sometimes. It appears in different stories and different scenarios, but in most cases it is good and helpful character. A human head is usually a good one, while an animal one is a bad one.
What do you think about this phenomena in culture? What do you think the head symbolize? Are there anu links to the phrase with 'loosing your head'?

Are you talking about when for animals people would hunt them and kill them and put their heads on the wall like a deer? And are you asking what it means if a person's head is cut off?
Losing your head just basically means you went crazy since you don't have a head to think correctly Shrug

That’s all bad. Put it in a biblical perspective; The head is Christ, the body is the church. If you separate the head from the body the body is dead, just as if you separate Christ from the church then the church is dead. So severed heads symbolize Christ being separated from the church, the head being separated from the body; it symbolizes death. Death is the enemy.

Elizabeth and DKTrav88 thank you for your answers, but I think my topic has been confused. There's no any war, reality or religion meaning. A severed head belongs to myths and tales. I was asking about 'loosing a head' like the phrase which had originated from tales or myths. ;(

I'm sorry that I haven't given an example, but I can't do it good right now, so I just post here some photos, maybe them can be helpful. Some 'heads' come from vary legends and tales. I don't remember many of them, but most featured of them come to mind. It's from some Russian legends: ( Διαμονδ Я думаю ты узнал о каких именно головах речь ) Alexander Belyayev's "Professor Dowell's Head": Stuart Gordon's "Re-animator" (1985): Well-known 'Medusa' (or rather, all remains of hers ): etc, etc... Sorry, for minimum examples. I'd would glad to find more, but I can't do it now.
