Does anyone know? This person's life is relatively stress-free but their diet isn't that good. Asking for a friend.

They should visit a doctor. Because hair loss could be caused by different factors. e.f. a disease or androgenic alopecia.

mostly genetic may also be caused by testosterone breaking down into DHT - which you can help with certain supplements, recall limonene was quite effective at this, also unfiltered applecider vinegar contains some enzymes that can help this i did see one guy eating a lot of soy beans and over 3 months his hairline grew back a lot, but thats because soy beans are highly estrogenic (1% by weight plant-estrogen), not sure if you'd wanna go that way "biotin" can be used to grow thicker hair faster, but doesnt appear to deal with receding hairlines or similar
