I post '8', because of the black 8 ball.
I think that English is very interesting language, because of its not hard logic, but it's not so flexible as Russian language for example, and not so close to traditions like Japanese. So, for me it's like Latin in XVII century.

I gave it a 9.
English, thank you for being easier than Ukrainian and Russian. --Queen.

I voted "9" (quite high) because of its relatively easy grammar and because of its very extensive vocabulary; I did not vote "10" because its sound is not, for me, as suitable as some other languages for poetry or for music, and because of potential ambuiguities in the use of "two noun combinations" such as "London flight" [a flight either to or from London]. The easy grammar is also a defect, namely the lack of inflections in verbs (which have to be made up by a variety of auxiliary verbs, as in "I shall have arrived when the sun sets").

I vote 6! Why? English of course is better for other Germanic but many letters are not readable, and some words and meanings of words are rather limited ... I read that old English was better in structure!

6/10, I like it better without all the Norman French crap.

9/10 Not a perfect 10 because English can be very ugly sometimes. There are also some slangs of English that some would have a very difficult time understanding, like Jive.

I vote 6! Why? English of course is better for other Germanic but many letters are not readable, and some words and meanings of words are rather limited ... I read that old English was better in structure! It is true that Old English [= Anglo-Saxon] and Middle English had more inflections than Modern English. For instance, our "To Hang" = A.S. Hang-ian. Speaking to one person, we say "I love you", which in M.E. was "I love thee"; "where is thy heart?"; "why speakest thou not?" The best British literature is in Middle English, whose vocabulary comprises Anglo-Saxon and, since 1066, Norman (also called "Old French"). So, the limited meaning of some English words is really made up by the very extensive vocabulary of the modern "twofold" language.
