www.thegospelcoalition.org/blogs/trevin-wax/johns-story-why-i-left-eastern-orthodoxy-for-evangelicalism/“I would have caved had I not begun reading the Bible the Baptists had given me,” John says with a smile. “As I began reading Scripture, I understood Jesus to be the only way to God. I realized I did not need the Orthodox church or even a priest to be my mediator, for Jesus was the mediator between me and the Father.” Though John does not use the term, it is clear from his testimony that he had acquired an unshakable belief in the Reformation doctrine of sola scriptura. “I realized that the Bible was the authority, even over the Church. The Bible was true, and the Church with all its traditions and rituals was wrong.” What do those who are members of the Orthodox Church think of this and the rest of what is said in the article?

Ready! Things about Michael 1. He was present when Satan decided to rebel. So Michael fough satan with his angels and Satan fought him with his angels (demons/fallen angels). So all angels fought. Two strongest angels (Michael and Satan) took the lead. (Revelation 12: 7-9) 2. Michael will be present during the end times. But why wouldn't he since he is the strongest angels now to help God? (Daniel 12:1) 3. He was called chief prince. This makes sense if he is the most powerful angel or archangel right? (Daniel 10: 13, 21) 4. Michael's voice will be heard BEFORE Jesus will ascend from heaven. (1 Thess. 4:13-18) 5. Angels are spirits (Hebrews 1:14) Jesus 1. He is the image of the invisible God so God is a spirit then. And Jesus was there before all the creation. (Colossians 1:15) 2. Jesus created everything that's visible and invisible. So that means humans, angels, etc. (Colossians 1:16) 3. Jesus was always God. So not an angel but was always God. (John 1:1) 4. Jesus is called a King. (1 Timothy 6:15) Similarity Just one similarity. Michael and Jesus are spirits and Jesus who was always God made humans, angels, etc. Plus Michael is a prince while Jesus is the King. Shows Jesus above Michael. Proof. In Revelation 19 a voice/cry was heard from an angel. It must be from Michael because as 1 Thess. 4:13-16 that I mentioned earlier said this angel would be there and his voice and shout will be heard right before Jesus will show up. So what happens next after an angel in Revelation 19 is heard? Jesus comes by. Obviously 2 different entities. That same angel (Michael) tells John to write everything down and John decided to bow to the angel. The angel told him never to bow down to him because He's not God/Jesus. In conclusion Michael is an angel and a chief prince and Jesus is God the King. You're too late ;p Great post btw. Had to keep my word and compare them!

Had to keep my word and compare them! I took a picture! I've got a question, some people are able to leave their bodies and take spirit form, does that make them angels? No. We will never be angels. Bible says we will be similiar to angels only as in being in spirit form like them only. But as God and angels have differences so will we and the angels have differences.

But you cannot live by Spirit without doing what the Bible says! We must become what Jesus preached. You carefully read what is written there? Your comments incorrect!

DKTrav88You have written that you have Russian roots ... but your views are similar to the teachings of the Molokan sect whose descendants live in California! just10sp I think you know the simple truth that there are only 2 churches is Orthodox and Catholic churches ... it is quite possible Lutheranism too! But different post-reform organizations are not a church in the canonical plan, but simply a circle for Bible study. They take a snippet from the Scripture that Jesus will save them for their faith but ignore hundreds of other places in the Bible or misinterpret them! A simple example- The word "Bible" in the sacred books is not found and was first used with reference to the collection of sacred books in the east in the IV century by John Chrysostom and Epiphany of Cyprus. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Chrysostom en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Epiphanius_of_Salamis They were from the Fathers of the church! Ephesians 4:11-16 New King James Version (NKJV) 11 And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, 12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, 13 till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; 14 that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, 15 but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christ— 16 from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love.God simply could not give his word to unworthy and wrong people!
"And he answered and said unto him, It is written, Man can not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God" (Matthew 4: 4) The Lord Jesus Christ founded the Church "I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it" (Matthew 1:18). "Take heed to yourselves and to all the flock in which the Holy Spirit has made you the guardians of the mouth of the Church of the Lord God, which He purchased with His own blood" (Acts 20:23). "Christ loved the church and gave himself up for it" (Eph.5: 25). Outside the Church, salvation is impossible, for the Church is the body of Christ!
The Church of the Living God is the pillar and the affirmation of the truth "(1 Timothy 3:15). "Teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you" (Matthew 28:20). "In order that the manifold wisdom of God might now become known to the authorities and authorities in the heavens through the Church" (Eph. 3:10). The unchallenged guarantee of the preservation of truth by the Church is that it has the Holy Spirit. This Spirit of truth always dwells in the Church and forms the life principle in it: "... and I will pray the Father and give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever ... teach you everything and remind you of everything I have told you" (John 14: 16, 26). "When he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth" (Jn. 16: 13). « The church is continuous! I am with you (Jesus and the church) all the days until the end of the age "(Mt. 28:20) Have a nice Sunday morning to all!

So...in order to live by God's commmadment ans making sure we direct our hearts into the love of God we must know the scripture and to live by it in Spirit. Exactly what I said facepalm

I have liked to read the two interviews of people who have switched allegiance to Churches (either from the eastern Orthodox one to one form of Evangelicalism, or from the latter to the former). The presented controversy is not a controversy of religions but of Christian theologies. Evangelicalism, or Lutheranism in particular, admits of one authority only, the Scriptures, and does away with ancient rituals, which exist in Orthodoxy and in Catholicism. However, the Scriptures (or the New Testament in particular), which originally were in Greek, are not the pure word of God (as some theologians believe). They include some doctrines and rituals from the Greek world or from the Greek writers, the Evangelists, who supposedly were inspired or made infallible by the Holy Spirit. So, accepting the New Testament is accepting a man-made theology which has dubious factual foundations. (As I am no longer a Christian, I will not enter into the present controversy, and, unlike Bertrand Russell, I will not write an Apology [Defense] as to why I cannot be a Christian, or the follower of any other religion. In the future, somebody may want to open the discussion why he wants to be, or not to be, a Christian. In the early days of Christianity, some writers made their defense of their own pagan religions.)

Correct it's that people read the bible differently. I however cannot comprehend how a church has authority when Jesus has full authority over heaven and earth as it says here. Matthew 28 18 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen. And I also don't understand their human priest when Jesus is our priest. Hebrews 4:14 14 Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. It's weird. Catholics and Orthodox have a church as their authority and a human priest. My church is Jesus with authority and Jesus as priest.

DKTrav88You have written that you have Russian roots ... but your views are similar to the teachings of the Molokan sect whose descendants live in California! Have a nice Sunday morning to all! So? Orthodoxy is ecumenical(universal). It may as well be another form of Catholicism. Christ did not come to bring unity, He came to bring division. “Luke 12:51 KJV [51] Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division:” God does not want all churches to unite, the reason being they will all be corrupted if the leader is corrupted which has happened already with the Orthodox Church. Your traditions are not based on scripture, but rather writings and councils conducted by men through the centuries; you’re literally basing your practice on the doctrines and commandments of men which scripture says not to do. Christ even spoke of it. You’re going against what God says outright and blatantly. Scripture and scripture only is the authority, not what any man says or writes or councils. Men are corruptible, God is not. God cannot lie, men can, do, and will. When you realize this you will stop giving heed to what men say and only give heed to scripture without any influence from any man.
