I believe that our current democracy that we have now is very... inefficient. It should go back to the way it was, at the Founding of America. Land-Owning white males. White? I have seen this repeated endlessly but I have never seen a primary source to back this up. And I read primary sources. So please show me a primary source where voting was restricted to whites in a non-slaveholding state.

In all of the original Thirteen Colonies, it was only legal for land owning White males to vote, this was set by the Constitution allowed the states to set voting laws. Also, at the founding, every colony had slaves present in it. No matter how big or small, they had slaves. The laws regarding voting didn't really start to change until around the time of Andrew Jackson, which changed to allow only White males to vote. Though, there were still tax requirements up until the 20th Century. In 1790, there was two slave holding states that allowed free Blacks to vote, Maryland and North Carolina, there were only four Northern States that allowed Free Black males to vote, Massachusetts, New York, Pennsylvania, and Vermont. (Later in the 1800s, Pennsylvania took those rights away.) In 1860, only five states allowed (some) Blacks to vote; Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Rhode Island and Massachusetts. It wasn't until 1870, with the passage of the 15th Amendment. Blacks were allowed to vote in all states, however, Jim Crow came about and restricted the Black vote. However, I'd argue that the South was way better back then. There weren't any foreign dark-skinned hordes coming across our border, there weren't any ghettos. Actually during Segregation in the South, Black were actually better off than they are now. The poverty rate for the Black population was around ~6% and the out of wedlock birthrate was only at around ~20%. Now, they are 22% - 27% and 77%, respectively. Which is around the same to the Black population in the UK. Nationalism is an extremely based concept. Fascism is a bit much.

Ethnic nationalism is great, civic "nationalism" not so much.
