Can you solve this math riddle? Took me like a minute to figure out what these tricksters did. Two possible aswers here.
1 + 4 = 5 2 + 5 = 12 3 + 6 = 21 8 + 11 = ?

That's one answer! Anyone know the other answer? I found the other answer first actually. Sarmatian went the opposite route

Unless there are 3 answers...how did you get 99?

Scratch that it's wrong.

1 + 4 = 5 2 + 5 = 12 3 + 6 = 21 8 + 11 = ?
the operation seems to be a+b = a*(1+b) 1+4=1*5=5 2+5 = 2*(5+1)=12 3+6=3*(6+1)=21 8+11=8*12=96

I'd go with 96 as well, with the same reasoning as hamad. Trying to figure out the other option now....

And the other answer is probably 40. I think this one it more "correct" though. It doesn't presume anything at all. A very nice little riddle really.

40, the answer is always equal to the sum of the previous answer two sequence and the addition in progress
So 2+5= 12, because 1+4 =5, 2+5=7 so 7+5=12.
so, 8+11=19+21=40

yeah, another answer is 96, because, 1*(1+4)=5, so 8*(8+11)=96, though, this operation is not correct.

yeah, another answer is 96, because, 1*(1+4)=5, so 8*(8+11)=96, though, this operation is not correct. Well, it ain't exactly wrong, provided one can surmise the addition between 8 + 11 and 3 + 6 were omitted in purpose. But then again, provided math is a very detailed and to-the-point "language" it should be somehow indicated with "." or something. Well, the funny thing is that sometimes our brain just goes straight up and just considers that it should add 4,5,6 and 7 between 3 and 8, since up to that point there was a n+1 pattern, hehe.

True, the multiplication operation here is not straightforward, and includes distributive property, though, it needs a bit of guessing.
