Historically labour and conservatives used to be fairly centerist with neither reaching out very far to the left nor right, however now we see a large divide of ideologies in terms of how far right/ left a party goes.
On the centre left to left we have labour, snp, the green party and plaid cymru (however you spell that party). And the we have the centre right to right wing parties such as the conservatives and ukip. While new labour under tony blair was more centerist the labour in power today is very left wing (democratic socialism). This leaves the two main parties being very divided in terms of ideologies.
So my question is, what do you think caused this huge divide of left/right we see in the uk today?
