It's a gift. Without it we wouldn't be able to make different models of cars' different appearances of homes, etc. Everything will just look plain and dull. Imagination adds creativity and color.

that is true, but almost all the evils and miseries of the world are the embodiment of evil imagination.

I don't think pure good is necessary. Even suffering and wars maybe necessary to our history and nature of life and i personally don't know definition of pure good - life without suffering?; life without evil throughts?; life without immense work? Life as world (IMHO) is neutral in terms of maorality and here (without aid of human sentience) no True Good / Evil. Humans can choose to be "good" only with imagination (as being "evil") and imagination (as a lot of cognitive functions) is double edged sword, in short

As for me imagination is a complex process including abstraction and equilibration. It is necessary to solve different puzzlez when logic cognitive functions aren't able to do this. But it appears in different situation that requires mind to relax (rest?).
Well, this feature is good, but it can produce bad habits using it often instead of logic functions.
