One of Picasso's famous paintings, was Guernica. Guernica was the capital of the Basque province of Spain destroyed by Franco Hitler. In this painting, Picasso shows a world blown into a million pieces in a way that is suggestive of helplessness, brutality, and eminent and inescapable death. It is worth mentioning here that one of Hitler's agents saw it and said to Picasso" Ah, so you did this,Picasso?" The artist answered wittily; you did it!" meaning that it is you who destroyed the city

It's a fair indictment of the German army in the bombing of the city! Picasso was very concerned about this!

Picasso was of course very concerned about that bombing and he recorded the distortions in a way that astonished and probably scared the bombers.
