I believe suffering is a masochistic punishment we humans bring upon ourselves. There is no sense for it.

I think that humans are very prone to illnesses, not only physical but also mental. This is one major source of our suffering. The other lays in bad character and sin.

Well, it is a good question. But, doubtly that there's the only one cause of suffering. I think many things could cause us pain. Moreover, there is no such thing that couldn't be not causing suffer.

Fear of the unknown. I mean think about it. Almost all forms of emotional suffering comes from an inherit fear of what’s to come. She broke up with me who will ever love me again? I failed that test what are my grades going to be? Daddy hit me does he not love me and will he hit me again?

Humans are inclined to laziness and very resistant to changes. People arrange their lives to make them as comfortable as possible (as seen in our mania for robots and automated processes), anything that disrupts that faux peace is perceived as bad. They want to take the smoothest path, free of disturbances. They decline risks. They rely on others more than themselves. They would rather follow than lead. They go from one system to the next system then come back to the discarded system. It's like that death spiral phenomena which occurs among ants. That is human history in a nutshell. The blind lead the blind into the ditch. When the leaders know nothing, the people know nothing.
