I wanna do it too! Line up those idols so I can break their heads! They're blind, deaf, and mute anyway. Just useless

Just useless Then you might want to get rid of the bible as well and go back to the historical context of verbal transition. A bible isn't an idol silly. Idols are statues/images. And Jesus told them what to write so Jesus wants the bible. Don't you remember Jesus speaking in the gospels saying what to write? End of John is the hint!

End of John is the hint! Quote. Anyhow, idols are not limited to statues alone but anything placed before God (money, work, time, etc.) so smashing statues in American culture sends very little of a message. You completely missed the point, which is no surprise since past conversations about the Bible with you have shown that you don’t understand what it says, but would rather rely on church catechisms and eisegetical interpretations that go against the obvious exegetical context. Maybe you can, to support your first proposition, attempt to show exactly how Elizabeth is idolizing the Bible. Does she pray to it? Ask it to heal her or bless her? Does she put it in a shrine, surround it with candles, burn incense to/for it, and venerate it as if it is literally God? Does she make offerings to it? Sacrifices? Does she kowtow to it? What does she believe about the Bible that would be considered idolatrous?

God's word isn't meant to be smashed otherwise how will you know how to worship God if you don't know how He wants you to worship Him? Of course don't worship the bible like people worship idols which they bow down to pray to and serve. A student learns from a textbook at school on how to be a doctor. Worshiping the textbook will not make him a doctor or do him any good. It'll just make him look stupid. He must use what it contains for reading and applying what is read. This is the purpose of a bible too to read and apply. That's it.

Not only this, but by the funny logic he is using, if we don’t burn the things we have we are automatically idolizing it Alright eod, take your tablet, cell phone, computer, house, car, clothes, etc and burn them all to ashes. If you don’t, you are idolizing them

If you don’t, you are idolizing them Actually I have before, plus alot are really expensive. A bible is not. If the bible is not an idol, as you say it is not, burning it will not do anything. However if it is an idol then you are breaking your own law. The logic is simple. If the bible is only a book then it doesnt matter. However if it is more than a book, which qualifies as Idolotry, it must be burnt. Because the bible is only a book, you should be able to burn it. My stance? Statues acting as reminders are not idols. You are the only one here that suggested someone was idolizing their bible. Your stance isn’t applicable to the thread as the thread is about idols and exposing idol worship. I wonder if you even watched the video...

I wonder if you even watched the video... Actually it applies to the thread and the nature of idols. A statue acting as art or a reminder is not an idol. Statues are used in idol worship, that's the topic of the thread. If you want to talk about statues used as reminders, go start your own thread.

So are "images" and any other thing placed as primary to God. Statues also act as reminders and hence are not always idols. A statue is a statue and its nature as an idol or not is premised in its usage. Nobody ever claimed that statues are only used in idol worship, take your strawman attacks elsewhere.

You just need one copy to read only to find out how to worship God. Like you only need one marriage license, one driver's license, one HS diploma, etc. Making a copy for someone is cool too but only one copy is needed for yourself. It's a source of reference and proof. Nothing else. Praying to or worshipping an object is just wasting time. A spoon, book, statue, popcorn, spatula, or any other thing can't even hear you let alone see you to help you. All it does is points to the lack of logic of the person on how the world works.

Nobody ever claimed that statues are only used in idol worship, take your strawman attacks elsewhere. So why smash a virgin Mary statue (relative to the video)? It was to show people who idolize it that it has no power; it cannot answer prayers, it cannot speak, it cannot hear, it cannot see, it cannot cry, it cannot do anything as it has no power and is only a statue.

Yeah...but most people don't believe it can do that. Obviously the message is for those who do. It is a Biblical message nonetheless and there are people who claim to follow the Bible while idolizing statues, images, and other things.

Still; you must admit. Praying to a lifeless statue is kind of creepy and looks a lot like worship. It is creepy, so are taking selfies, etc. All a statue is, is a symbolic reminder that brings forth memories or changes parts of the psyche into a different means of perception. Statues are fine by me for art. Praying to statues looks very much like idolatry.
