www.thegospelcoalition.org/blogs/trevin-wax/johns-story-why-i-left-eastern-orthodoxy-for-evangelicalism/“I would have caved had I not begun reading the Bible the Baptists had given me,” John says with a smile. “As I began reading Scripture, I understood Jesus to be the only way to God. I realized I did not need the Orthodox church or even a priest to be my mediator, for Jesus was the mediator between me and the Father.” Though John does not use the term, it is clear from his testimony that he had acquired an unshakable belief in the Reformation doctrine of sola scriptura. “I realized that the Bible was the authority, even over the Church. The Bible was true, and the Church with all its traditions and rituals was wrong.” What do those who are members of the Orthodox Church think of this and the rest of what is said in the article?

I have the right to make guesses .. Nothing more! 6 For the ignorant speak a fool, and his heart meditates on the wicked, to act hypocritically, and blaspheme against the Lord, to deprive the hungry soul of bread and to take the drink from the thirsty. Isaiah 32 chapter- I understandably wrote my position about the Church in Philadelphia .. it is a carved stone Christ praised this church until the end of the world! There was only Orthodox teaching and tradition there! No you simply do not have the correct understanding of revelations nor does your position about the church of Philadelphia reflect reality. You are one of those American clever people who make up all sorts of nonsense and then distribute it on the Internet ... I've watched people on Facebook for many years for such people and for their delusions! The whole world knows that the Americans have spread all sorts of nonsense on a religious theme on Youtube everywhere. . This Babylonian school as God said!

The Catholic Church does the same thing Both churches scold each other back and forth and claim they are the true church when in reality neither of them are the true church. The true church is spiritual. The congregation is spiritual. There are many true churches spread all over the world, but they are independent, they do not have a patriarch that governs them, they do not have canon laws and councils in where they decide on how to practice and worship and what rituals to perform; that isn’t their authority, their authority is the scriptures and only the scriptures. So you believe in an invisible church? Link to the Bible in the studio The church in the “universal" sense refers to the body or group of all saved people everywhere. It includes all who have been redeemed by Jesus' blood, have been forgiven of their sins, and have been born into His spiritual family. It does NOT refer to the Orthodox Church alone. The Orthodox Church is just a split off of the Roman Catholic Church where instead of a papacy you have a patriarchy. It is otherwise the same thing, institutionalized religion established by men. God NEVER named the church. What you’re failing to see is that orthodoxy may as well be the same thing as Judaism in that the Jews believe a book called the Talmud which was written by rabbis, it is literally no different than orthodoxy in that all of your canon laws and councils were recorded by church leaders and are now believed and followed by the Orthodox Church. Either way you look at it, it is following rituals, practices, and laws ordained by men. Throw all of that out and follow scripture.

The issue is that you’ve been brainwashed by the Orthodox Church, you’re so engrained in what you’ve been taught that you believe it is the ultimate truth and that you’re knowledge is infallible. You haven’t showed any humility at all, you’re insulted when I attack the Orthodox Church then act childish and try to attack Protestantism as if all Protestants are the same and believe the same things, and your posts on arktos reflect that of a racist as well.

This verse just came to me suddenly. Shrug So guessing He wants to make sure everyone is exalting Him and Him alone. So make sure you do it! Psalm 46:10 10 Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!

Im going to repeat this for the record.

Ok so to some the arguments and insults are becoming a burden to some and one feels continuously insulted to speak out. So means I have to mention to not insult or harass each other anymore since one is offended and some are unhappy of it all. 5. Do not harass or insult continuously. Please exercise restraint and be courteous to others. We understand fights/disagreements are inevitable but please make an effort to solve them quickly and privately before it becomes a burden to others and involves staff. Do not physically threaten harm to another member under any circumstances. You guys can still state your opinions of doctrines and churches to say you dislike them or whatever but restrain the insults please! That's all

I know that God decides who to save or not ... therefore, I always take a normal attitude to different sincerely believing Hirstians ... but if a Christian is faithful to the heresy of his own selfishness ... then! Shrug Catholics came from the Orthodox Church! Protestantism from Catholics ... the West has never been fully Christian! Amen!

Backwards. Orthodoxy came from the Church of Rome(Roman Catholic Church), not the other way around as Rome was in control of all the churches in the Roman Empire hence the schism(the split off of the Roman Catholic Church) 🤦🏼♂️ that’s why their practices and rituals are so similar. Protestantism is the result of the reformation which was a complete separation from the Catholic Church because the Catholic Church wanted complete control over scripture; Catholic Churches in England would preach to the congregation in Latin and had bibles only written in Latin which didn’t edify the congregation because nobody knew Latin except priests and scholars, hence the congregation had to rely on priests to interpret God’s word for them which is pretty much a cult(men relying on a guru to tell them God’s word). The separation included the shunning of all man made rituals and practices and went strictly to scripture for an authority, as opposed to a papacy or patriarchy as an authority. A church can be corrupted, God’s word(scripture) is infallible and preserved for all time. You should really refresh your history on the reformation and stop using Wikipedia as your source all the time(FYI, anyone can rewrite a Wikipedia page, I’ve done it myself many times just to prove it can be done, hence it isn’t a reliable source). Though I may be wasting my breath because you just admitted you sincerely believe historians, fallible men, rather than God’s word🤷🏼♂️

I would become evangelical because the orthodox church and partly the catholic church since dawn of time persecute gypsies just like the jews. They are behind it. When I say Im Gypsy some made a joke that i read crystall balls or do some black magick. In Borat they said "Gypsy give me your tears". Gypsies were in middle ages considered "heathens" because the church was eurocentric and gypsies had dark skin. But nowadays many Gypsies accepted Jesus Christ as their Saviour. I am a convinced Christian. I am orthodox christian but I believe all christians believe in the same Bible and in the same God, in the God who is Father, Son and Holy Spirit. So I would visit evangelic church too where there are many Gypsies in that church. I followed on facebook that there are churches which are attended by alot of christian gypsies. But there is none where I live.
But my mum is against, and probably my relatives too. But in orthodox church gypsies dont go to church they just celebrate saint and christmas and easter, I never heard that there is a gypsy priest or gypsy monk that they are accepted as equal, they are often not even baptised. Im not sure if every orthodox priest baptises gypsies i read that some dont want to burry gypsies.

But, I won't try to shout, besides I'm well as an Atheist. The problem is not in the doctrines and all that stuff, but in the historical/cultural questions. Why on Earth we're talking about all these religious questions?.. Because of its cultural/historical point, because the history gifted us of all these questions. "Axes on the Gordian knot"
