Clovis, what was the point of this post? You see that video in the post? It is to discuss that. Why do I even need to explain this to someone?

Polaris, fschmidt, Elizabeth and I have all made posts discussing topics relevant to the video. The reason that the post is structured this way is because I find the concept of Amish people outbreeding us all and outnumbering us amusing to the extreme.

But maybe they are out-breading us all because they've stuck more to a traditional lifestyle and haven't been exposed so much to modern culture. Just a thought.

They are religious and conservative to the extreme and religious conservatism correlates with having high numbers of children. Osama Bin Laden had more kids than Christopher Hitchens, Richard Dawkins, Bill Maher, Neil deGrasse Tyson (and I could just keep naming atheists to the point of absurdity) combined. Its why the future belongs to the religious and the conservative and atheists are shrinking as a proportion of the world's population. Still living in a country mostly inhabited by Amish is hilarious to me for reasons that I cannot quite articulate. They seem a very comical people.

all the major current problems in the world are caused by over-population specifically, from china, who are as atheist as it gets
and its much worse than the 'official' numbers dictate
based on fishing patterns the chinese population is about 3 billion for the simple reason that is the amount of oceanic fish they consume: 700% above what their official tally is claimed to be
in fact more recent estimates put their over-fishing at 2000% above their official tally
christ did not teach over-population, he taught celibacy
the amish themselves have long been a fascination to me, albeit from a distance, and i agree with much of the philosophy but not all of it
motor-cars and alcohol kill a million people a year each, but its not just a raw numbers game, that would be a very crude approach to have - its about quality over quantity
"for you have expanded in number, but not in love"
their abhorence for technology will make them cannon-fodder when the current world war escalates as a consequence of chinese over-population
i find much technology to be far more trouble than its worth, the so-called medical process being more a matter of lies and gadgets convincing ignorant technophiles to endorse massive amounts of government spending on sheer quackery
its a matter of being perceptive enough to tell the difference between what is useful technology and what is a baffle-with-bullshit money making scam, like bitcoin for instance
an endless topic, this, but suffice to say i do not think the horse is any better than the car, breathing auto-fumes or horse-farts is lose-lose false dichotomy

However the birth rates in China are very low. Each generation pretty much halves since they did the one child policy. In a couple generations there won't be enough young people to financially support the old ones. Like in Japan this will lead to economic disaster and their current place in the world order being greatly diminished.
