The town of Broummana in Lebanon has hired a group of young women as auxiliary police officers for the summer - and dressed them all in shorts. With their male colleagues still wearing trousers, the issue has caused a stir in the press and on social media. Video journalist: Eloise Alannabbc articleThoughts? Personally, I think it's a revolutionary concept but much more likely to result in a rise of crime. If I could break a window to get a meat delivery like that... everyone would be feeling a draught right now

Sounds like it's time for his retirement then. I'm sensing the presence of some feminism here. There is absolutely nothing wrong with female officers wearing shorts. And it does not say anything about his career prospects at all. I think that's baseless slander because you're not getting any in this interaction.

I just think that guy isn't right for the job. Shrug

Seems a bit inappropriate and unprofessional. The mayor's reason for doing it was, "to make a shock to international media and to attract tourists"..."It's pretty and people like pretty. Do you want ugly?" So it's for attention and not any other reason. One policewoman said "To show that Lebanon is like the rest of the world", but the rest of the world doesn't put their policewomen in shorts just to attract attention shrug

I think they should both be the same. Putting female officers in shorts doesn't do anything but draw attention to the police/city, which I suppose could be a good thing, but what does it have to do with crime? Separately, the whole idea of having a "sexy police force" is pretty misogynistic. I have to say, the whole thing is pretty silly, but distracting from the fact that their job is to enforce the law, is not a positive.

Can these women actually fight crime or were they picked solely because they look good in shorts?

However - I think he's brilliant. Most of society is in contrast - laid back like him. And in, what I perceive to be an otherwise roughcast location. I think the "attention" he's looking for from not just papers, but locals as well. Is a positive thing because this effort will create more interest in police. Lebanon is like the rest of the world seemed more to be a statement with regards to how we all (not you apparently) love pretty women.

but distracting from the fact that their job is to enforce the law, is not a positive. It can be. because some brainless savages like myself would be so busy drooling over the extra inches of leg We would be more or less totally oblivious as we were grabbed from behind for a triple homicide. The contrast here is to tell the women they're not allowed to wear shorts Which i think is a waste of an otherwise highly aesthetic arrangement of limbs Think of it this way. Dignity will die with the beholder. But an ass like that can live forever. Anyone who utilises the concept known as a "wank bank" can understand.

Can these women actually fight crime or were they picked solely because they look good in shorts? That's a good question. I think they're just ordinary officers, but its worth noting the women depicted in the video are just traffic cops. In terms of going at it like Captain America style, though I'm not sure the lycra would do much for your judo kicks But you'd look damn fine doing them so there's that
