The American couple held 13 children on a chain:
Riverside County police in California seized a couple, parents of 13 children from two to 29 years old. They kept their children in custody, some of them were chain-bound, the Riverside County Sheriff's office said in a statement. nixle.us/9TFYK
According to police, on the morning of January 14, a seventeen-year-old girl fled the house and was able to call the rescue service. She said that her parents do not let out 12 of her brothers and sisters, who were chained.
"After a short conversation with the girl (policemen - Ed.), Found 57-year-old David Allen Turpin and 49-year-old Louise Anne Turpin in their home, where the teenager fled," the statement said. Later it turned out that several children in the house are chained to beds in dark and badly smelling rooms.
"Parents could not give a logical explanation why their children were held in this way," the statement says. Seven children are adults, they are from 18 to 29 years old. All the victims were in poor condition and did not eat for a long time, they were given food and water.
The statement adds that all the victims were taken to the police station for interrogation and then to the hospitals for examination, the parents were detained.

I'm wondering where were all the police services of this before? Is it possible in such a police country as the United States that it was possible beforehand to go around houses to find this? Where were the neighbors of this family? In any case, I read a lot about such things and most of them were in the USA!

Thus is wrong and sick! I don't understand in anyway, how someone can be such monsters! I believe in the death penalty for Thus! They messed all those lives up.

They people were sicked, and there's nothing we can do, but to isolate them. This case has to show us how important not to let someone to have children just by their own wishes. Arising children is the society's not a family's affair only! |

They people were sicked, and there's nothing we can do, but to isolate them. This case has to show us how important not to let someone to have children just by their own wishes. Arising children is the society's not a family's affair only! While I admire your ability to forgive and a wish a part of me was more peaceable in that respect I'm just old school. You DO NOT harm women and children. Maybe that's a bit sexist of me but that's the way I am. People like this... |

That's result of private property dogma. If you own a piece of property nobody could go into it without your permission or court warrant. Police have no authority to just walk in and check whatever they want, they need a good reason confirmed by authorities to do that.
As any social models concept of private property has its ups and downs. Here we see one of its negative consequences.

This two should never take care of children. But relatives should have checked on the kids. Relatives were just told not to see kids. That'd be a red flag for me. I'd at least check kids are fine.

I also remember reading not sure if on the link provided or a different one but the dad lost his job and seemed like he was the supporter in the family. He had like a very good job and a very good pay. So maybe when the family went jobless the parents lost their minds basically. They should have reached out to relatives though or something and not shune them out. Or encourage the older kids to work and help with bills if they live there. I mean that's what I'd do. This wasn't the way to go... |
