This skull I found in a book I am reading, recently written, and the author was unable to determine what creature it is. Fairly recent from what I can see.
I'll publish the book title in a bit, but here is a good blind test for someone to
demonstrate that the fossil record can answer such questions.
But there is a long and twisted tale to this narrative ... ... ...
So can anyone answer what skull it is?

Has canines like an ape so probably some ape or hominid closer to an ape, but then, who knows? Looks baboonish but monsters exist so wtf do I know about anything?
