I like how he's saying it: "Newton speedran Pi methods" =) Newton was a Physicist speedrunner =) I like that.
Well, I'd say it might be not tight historically correct saying about double of hexagon in the method of fidning Pi. I've heard this was known already by Pythagoreans, in particular Plato mentioned it in his dialogue of "Timeus". Pythagorean school was tried as hard as possible to solve the problem of unmeasurement, and that lead them to numerous of methods. Some of such were mentined as by Euclid in his work, so by few Neoplatonics.
