I'm trying to avoid errors of thought while writing this to write with logic. I write this using a thesis statement because that way, the writing is more like a debate, something that seems more "official."
Our thoughts come from a wheel or pool of thoughts that retrieves thoughts of currently living individuals from this universe (a collection) and possibly even from other universes if you're lucky and if God allows that, we browse thoughts like the internet to move them towards what we want to think, browsing and editing the sounds, visuals and feelings, this browsing also means that we have free thought, and we can improve the skill of observing thoughts. Being a wheel or a pool, the source of thoughts pushes through like a calm wind. Our thoughts come about in collections in form of sounds and visuals, which knit together like a woolen shirt, something in between, or a mess of woolen threads. For us to experience thoughts come and go, we only have to interact with the world or direct thoughts by focusing on different points of input. By focusing on different points we can create new sounds, edit visuals, or create a mix of both. Feelings also go with thoughts to create a fuller experience. The felt experiences are of course edited just like the sounds and visuals. This editing makes thinking great experiences, something that memory retrieves and connects to older thoughts. We browse winds of thoughts like we browse the internet in freedom to choose. By changing the course of thoughts in form of editing sounds, visuals, and feelings we have freedom to choose; otherwise we would just follow a ready made slide show of sounds, visuals and feelings to follow through. Without editing, life is just about following a trail that is being made by something like a knitting machine that combines sounds, visuals, and feelings (electrical and chemical signals). The improvement of observation of thoughts is possibly by the practice of meditation or an alternative of treating thoughts as "knitted" sounds, visuals, and feelings that can be metaobserved. Metaobservation is realization that we do observe and also that we can observe the observance process itself.

Since you brough up that we have free will to browse then why would we need God to allow us to browse elsewhere? Are there restrictions?

The reason why we're conscious when we think is that we're presented with the choice between what concepts upon which we base our logical reasoning. If thought processes had only been algorithms, then consciousness wouldn't be necessary. Consciousness is our experience of free will.

I always thought the official definition was being aware of one's self mentally and physically.. Consciousness cannot be our experience of free will because there are lots of conscious slaves that have no choice

What if algorithms keep us on track while we are not "editing" our fate and free will allows us to manipulate our fate.

Well, it depends on what you mean by fate. If fate expresses divine will, then what you wrote implies that using free will is to rebel against the divine will. But in my view, if there is a creator, then we're given free will in order to use it.
Not applying one's free would turn a human into a biological computer, where its actions is determined by a combination of its biology and environmental influence. If that is what you mean by fate, and that breaking free from it is to "manipulate our fate", then fine, but it's not my choice of words.

Since you brough up that we have free will to browse then why would we need God to allow us to browse elsewhere? Are there restrictions? This is a bit off from your message, but I think that God created us by manipulating evolution and indeed allows us to browse and, in process, manipulate our daily fate. When it comes to restrictions, I believe that God controls the sources of our thoughts, like a police controls traffic, and thoughts from elsewhere are fainter, therefore they often go unnoticed.

The eternal question.
But the act of questioning is at the essence of thought. A question implies a logical or emotional structure that dictates the world. However the act of questioning itself is certainly a choosing from those outcomes.
So we can only really choose to question or not, because at any point we will have the best answer we know of, but until we think further we cannot know if there is a better answer readily available.
So the thought/question/free will phenomenon is outside of the physical world and its dictates that we choose.
Certainly, pure thought is beyond the causality of the material world, even as impure thought is trapped into the world. Meditation thus yields freedom to choose the options that then become available.

xebiq, the subject you introduced consists of thoughts (concepts, ruminations, ...) Therefore, according to your views, you just deepped in the "pool" of thoughts and ..... you found an interesting thought, namely the issue of the Origin of THOUGHT or THOUGHTS. Well, by introducing the POOL, you introduced the pool, collection, of thoughts as the source of your thoughts, but then you forgot to deal with the ORIGIN of the pooled thoughts. Are they eternally there? Is the pool the thinker? Anyway, "pool" is replaceable by MEMORY (also historically presumed to be the COSMIC MIND or, perhaps, GOD). Can you admit that humans are the authors of their thoughts while they are also the learners-- through language -- of the thoughts of others? Humans have even invented writing and libraries!!!

It can be reasonable to think that the origin of thoughts, like you said that "'pool' is replaceable by MEMORY," is a pool or even a set of those "bubbles of pools," other sentient beings in this universe (possibly even in other universes), and Gods' pool(s). I like that here are others who can bring on mental challenges, so I'm not alone. B)

Hey, you thought about this: "you introduced the pool, collection, of thoughts as the source of your thoughts, but then you forgot to deal with the ORIGIN of the pooled thoughts. Are they eternally there? Is the pool the thinker"? I did forget that. Here's what I think, the origin of the pooled thoughts is the earlier minds of God and his "friends", in my opinion. I believe that the reasonable explanation is that God (or Gods and Goddesses) first appeared in some primordial universe far far away; they evolved into very advanced beings and eventually started creating universes... If you want/can believe that. My belief is that they first formed and started thinking, then the thoughts got accumulated into a so called "pool" somewhere in a dimension of thoughts. Those built up and now we have some of those along with our new ones. This is how I should have begun the explanation. Thank you for notifying me of the error of not going deep enough, this is truly priceless and I will remember that forever!
