Archaeologists have calculated the exact age of the tomb of Christ in JerusalemTomb in the Church of the Resurrection in Jerusalem, which was allegedly buried Jesus Christ, was built during the reign of Emperor Constantine the Great — that is, 300 years after the crucifixion, according to popular science magazine National Geographic. "It is interesting that the samples of cement that are open to us in this tomb, not only helped to find traces of the very first version, but to confirm that it has been updated several times and rebuilt in the next century," said Anthony Moropoulou (Antonia Moropoulou), the head of the excavation from the National technological University of Athens (Greece). According to legend, the tomb of Christ was discovered in the early IV century, the Empress Helena — mother of Constantine, the first Christian Roman Emperor, who moved the capital to Constantinople. Later, around the Holy Sepulchre built a temple complex, which lasted until the beginning of XI century. Then it was destroyed by Arab conquerors, and, like medieval Chronicles narrate, this was the reason for the first crusade in 1095 After the conquest of Jerusalem by the crusaders restored the buildings and built the Church of Resurrection in the form in which it reached us. For a long time it was believed that the original tomb was destroyed. But last year, archaeologists who conducted the restoration of the Church, opened the tomb, set in 1555, and found another, more ancient stove and the remains of the Foundation. Scientists decided to find out to what time is this building. They chipped a few fragments of mortar, holding the Foundation stones and the old stove, and analyzed how many radioactive elements disintegrated crystals of sand, part of it. As shown by measurements, the tomb was built in about 345 BC — during the reign of Constantine and his sons Constantine II and Constantius II. This, according to archaeologists, a serious argument in favor of the fact that it really could be built by Emperor Constantine and his mother. On the other hand, as the scientists, yet there is no evidence that in the cave, hidden under a stove, in fact, buried the Christ – a large part of the cave remains buried under the stones of the tomb of the original and later buildings, erected in the middle ages. Further study of these artifacts, as I hope the archaeologists will help to understand whether in the rested tomb Christ, and find out other details — for example, how often the Holy Sepulchre was destroyed and rebuilt for seventeen centuries. ria.ru/science/20171129/1509844353.html
