German Mainstream Media Calls Polish Families Celebrating Their Freedom 'ultra-right-nationalists'
Yesterday the Poles celebrated their independence with their traditional march in Warsaw.
This year’s was a special one, as Poland has now been an independent country for 100 years. Entire families, children, elderly and other patriots celebrated their freedom. The resulting TV footage was remarkable, with complete bridges being filled with red and white flags. But while the Poles were celebrating their freedom with 200,000 to 300,000 others, Germany’s state sponsored broadcaster ZDF heavily criticised the event.
In a post on Twitter ZDF called the marching Poles ‘ultra-right nationalists’ who parade through the streets. It referred to how the march was forbidden by the mayor and only took place after the government intervened.
Last year the marching Poles were called fascists by mainstream media and even an EU official.
