Hmm, depends! School for me had started at 9:00, it can be very cold in the winter like -35 in the morning. Waiting for a school bus 30 minutes earlier would be quite bad in parts of Canada. I imagine that problem does not exist in California. Also because parents are normally at work at 9, so it made sense for small children, who can stay in after school programs until the parents are done work. People usually stay up until dark to begin with, along with the circadian rhythm of night and dark. It's definitely debatable! I'm gonna hold onto my vote until more discussion is made

I agree with this as well. It makes it where the kids are more alert and thus learn better.

Also in Canada there is freezing rain, a lot of times by the time school buses come to pick people up the ice melted or the freezing rain turned to rain which melted it.
Kids would love it if they could put up with the cold, more snow days! XD

9am?! Ok your school years were better than mine. when did yours start? I don't remember but was before 8. I never liked waking up at 6am. To this day I wonder how I survived and had perfect attendance not being a morning person

I want to guess it was 7:30 to 3:30. But if it's not correct then it's at least close to accurate Shrug

I think children should be taught to wake up early and be productive rather than sleeping late and waking up tired

For it, it’s important for kids to get proper sleep not just to be more alert and in a better mood to absorb knowledge. But also for children and teens to grow optimally.
