I saw this quote and am wondering.... Are atheists actually saying God doesn't exist or saying God shouldn't exist no matter what? What do you guys think, especially atheists?

So to answer my question it's both doesn't and shouldn't for them that you are implying?

Atheist is a strange term, I would call myself atheist, yet it isn't saying I am anti-god, just that I don't think any god, or gods, exist. The actual etymology of atheist is Greek, a- a prefix meaning without, and theos, meaning deity with an attached English ism, or ist, meaning "a distinctive practice, system, or philosophy, typically a political ideology or an artistic movement.". So someone who is atheist is just someone who lacks a philosophy or system that includes a god. It's not often we classify people in a lack of belief, but so far atheist seems to be the term we are stuck with. It's like how Christianity actually has many different sects, like Protestantism, Methodist, Orthodoxy and the list goes on.

You wouldn't be anti-God or hoping God didn't exist since God would want to be praised or whatever? Or you wouldn't praise even if God existed?

Atheists are saying that God doesn't exist. So overall it's that God doesn't exist is atheism but some atheist may also not want him to exist too then yeah?

Depends on the god if it did exist if I would praise them or not. Though if there was concrete evidence of it, I would acknowledge it's existence at least. But that is my singular stance, not really representative of all atheists.

Some atheists go out of their way to try to prove there is no God while they try to use science as their religion.

Considering science isn't a religion... No. They argue against the existence of god as it seems really foolish to them, at least in my experience, for someone to believe in a magical sky fairy.

Obviously science isn’t a religion. What I am saying is that some will use it as a religion, as in misuse science. Notice I am saying “some” not “all”. “to believe in a magical sky fairy” well then you’ve got a skewed view of who God is supposed to be. I guess it’s safe to say you don’t know anything about God shrug
