The police were looking for a bully in the district, who was beating cars and saw from a helicopter a 22-year-old black man moving in the backyard. Suspected him, the police began to chase the unarmed father of two children and, confusing the smartphone in his hands with a gun, shot a man right in his grandmother's yard. The killing already caused protests in the local community, requiring punishment for officers who were suspended. www.sacbee.com/news/nation-world/article206205544.html

The cops also killed Daniel Shaver. I was outraged because, as you can actually see in the video, an unarmed guy trying to obey police got shot.
Then I heard the other side. The cop said he reached for his back pocket after being warned repeatedly that any such moves would result in him being shot.
You can see on the video he reaches for his back pocket, which is when he's shot.
As bullying and corrupt as the cop seemed to me, and how ridiculous and wrong his shooting of this guy seemed, they do have to follow a certain protocol to keep themselves alive. It's a very dangerous job and cops get shot at regularly as part of the job.
The situation you described above sounds different, though.
Thoughts, anyone?

Well, even with the warning. Aren't they not allowed to shoot without being shot at or at least seeing a weapon being pointed at them? Plus, if they must shoot why make it a deadly one and not just one that'll wound him until he's detained?

It's just a frightening and disgusting story! I myself prefer to walk in the backyard! Police idiots ... now there is no confidence in the police in the world everywhere! Or did they kill him because he was black? Although I doubt in this instance.. 20 bullets get!

Plus, if they must shoot why make it a deadly one and not just one that'll wound him until he's detained? As far as I know, a policeman can freely shoot the suspect when he issues an order to stop and/or fire a warning shot in air, of course under condition where suspect doesn't obey. At least that's what its like here but I see no reason why it should be different in USA. This is too difficult for our cops here. Some just need water guns instead. :/
