as much as I've known this for years its finally been done. I've fully disconnected from Facebook, deleted an account I've had since 2007,didn't even bother to download my archive.
11 years of photos, videos, discussions, comments, likes and posts - fully deleted.
I've been terribly busy, but you'll see me here a lot more often,
if you'll have me that is.

Welcome back! So why no more Facebook? Hey. well aside from their crazy levels of censorship which has caught me oit for the silliest of things there is this massive data breach ( I most likely wasn't involved in) its a massive time sink - I had shaved my list of a few hundred to less than 80, still had more to shave off.. etc etc. I'd deactivated it a few times, but seeing all that the activity log reports and how insanely difficult it is to clear it out just got to me. so I severed the link completely. With it went my Snapchat and twitter - although admittedly I rarely used my twitter, it seems incredibly pointless ( and they ban even faster than fb does)

I'm sure you know all about it, but the implications with Cambridge Analytica's misuse of private data is serious - of course only sad that they were caught. This is a Darpa project. Apologies if this has been covered here, I'm on my phone currently - it probably has been since its been major news for the last few days. As you can see from the picture we've had a lot of snow to deal with.

Yes! I had issues with that place and it kept asking me for personal information! I couldn't stand it.

I see that Facebook is broken now! It's good ... I dream about it since 2011, when I first made myself an account there!

A bit conspiracy theoryee but how do you think they can give away a totally free service to a billion people. People who willingly give up all of their personal info and affiliations. Sure beats going door to door and trying to collect it.

I dream about it since 2011, when I first made myself an account there! yes they have taken about a 60 billion dollar hit in stock value.. bump in the road.. Zuckerberg conveniently sold a very large sum of stock which saved him 10s of millions just before the crash - hope they nail him for insider trading. He has been personally requested / ordered to go to the UK and answer questions from ( I believe ) the house of lords. Most will shrug, many will keep using it. Terms of service say anything you post becomes their possession.

I feel that in social media one must be very careful of entering or recording information, which could be used against you in the future. Now insurance companies, lawyers, law enforcement, employers may check out your Facebook and other social media often.
What you and how you interact can be most positive and negative towards your future or present career. If in college you were a social binge drinker had some naughty shots taken of you, bad thinking. Or if you constantly are politically and bad mouth the system, that took could be used against you.
If you call in sick and then next day a record of you stating you had a blast at a party, does not go down well! You are too sick to show up for work but ok to party. You bad mouth your employer, keep your dirty laundry and drama away from social media, just saying it has a way of coming back to bite you in the butt.

I'd have to agree with NancyMac on that. Social media isn't really just a fun and harmless place. People could be watching your account as we speak. Plus, facebook requires you to put private information like where you live. This can be dangerous and especially if you post a lot of pictures. People could just match up the pictures to places you visit frequently and find you. Nothing is really safe online. We must be cautious!

Elizabeth That's true. Somebody can make a bot that will traverse your facebook pictures, download them, try to match it with pictures from google maps for example and locate the places you like to visit

Now you need to be careful with more people in your family.
