Source: An Anthropologist Explains Why We Love Holiday Rituals and TraditionsSummary: The mere thought of holiday traditions brings smiles to most people's faces and elicits feelings of sweet anticipation and nostalgia. We can almost smell those candles, taste those special meals, hear those familiar songs in our minds. Ritual marks some of the most important moments in our lives, from personal milestones like birthdays and weddings to seasonal celebrations like Thanksgiving and religious holidays like Christmas or Hanukkah. And the more important the moment, the fancier the ritual. Holiday rituals are bursting with sensory pageantry. These (often quite literal) bells and whistles signal to all of our senses that this is no common occasion – it is one full of significance and meaning. Such sensory exuberance helps create lasting recollections of those occasions and marks them in our memory as special events worth cherishing. Indeed, there are plenty of reasons to value family rituals. Research shows that they can provide various psychological benefits, helping us enjoy ourselves, connect with loved ones and take a respite from the daily grind.

Honestly, I don't like any kind of celebrations. They mean there are some obligations, that I have to do something. For example, my cousin will be getting married in August and I hope I will have an opportunity to skip the wedding.

I just like decorating for Christmas and birthdays. That's it. Preferably no Christmas music with bells. That will annoy me fast or give me a headache and will turn it off Weddings are boring so like Romeo, I try to skip them too. My wedding cannot be long, nope. I only made it to 2 cousins wedding among... 5 or so? Hmm not too sure. Those 2 got lucky. Their weddings took place the closest to where I live so managed to get to it xD

Something to do with community, backgrounds, communication, sharing beliefs etc. Some people hate culture and traditions. I hate that kind of people, they are the destruction of the future.

Holidays at home were about relaxation and family get-togethers. Now that I work abroad, holidays make me feel homesick and depressed. I feel I need to go home on a holiday like I wish I could travel back through time until I reach a stage of my life when celebrations meant a lot to me

It's terrible when people are imposing holidays! Especially if they are absolutely strangers to him! People need to remain yourself!

Actually, when the warrior/ war chief culture was there, then the particular race used to celebrate their victory as the festival.
It also depends, if a particular warrior has won or took birth on that particular day, then he would be remembered.
if a tribe or race has become victorious and established their kingdom, then that's the beginning of new era, after cleansing the previous races.

The worse things about our traditions and holidays is is that it has become commercial and it's all about money and business.
