The Germanic Tribes - The Ascent of Civilization

Yeah, see, that was my point. I didn't call you German. I called you Germanic. That you are conceptually unable to distinguish between the two concepts is your problem and not mine. You are an English South African (not a 'Viking' which isn't the name of a people group but  of a job description, a Scandinavian raider and pirate during the latter part of the early middle ages. And you're not very Scandinavian either neither by ancestry or culture so stop LARPing as one.) and English people have their ethnogenenis in Germanic tribes that migrated from what is now Northern Germany and Denmark to Britain following the fall of the Roman Empire.

To call you Germanic is the same as to state that the grass is green and the water is wet, things that I wouldn't be surprised that you're also in denial about for some ridiculous politically charged reason that has its origin in apartheid (water being wet is now racist for some reason).  And the fact that you are insulted by being called 'German' based on your typical , pseudo historical, pseudo scientific, flat earth, magical thinking, fantasies that you hold in your mind about... well everything and hate an entire group of people based on... what was it you told me? Mean people having German last names during apartheid? Well, its actually pretty freaking racist not to mention ridiculous to the point of farce. You love to call other people racist but if someone related to you the views that you hold about Germans and Afrikaners and replaced the name of those groups with say 'black people' or 'African' or 'African American' you would screech and cry and  howl and call them a racist. If you hate those people and are racist against them, it's fine, you don't have to like any group of people, but at least own it and stop being a bloody hypocrite about it and holding double standards. That is truly contemptible.

You are a very taxing person to talk to because you don't think, you react. You have never in your life analyzed facts dispassionately and objectively and came to rational conclusions about them. Everything that you think and believe is a reaction to the trauma you experienced growing up in apartheid South Africa and based upon that trauma you have seen fit to eschew reality and invent what amounts to an alternate history fantasy novel that exists exclusively in your own mind. It's the strangest thing that I have ever witnessed. For the longest time you were actually pro China, the most puppy kickingly evil regime on the face of the planet right now, because they supported anti apartheid groups in South Africa during your youth, until even you couldn't hold on to that fantasy anymore. Finally, I am not a German, though I have German ancestry and am proud of it, I do not speak a word of the German language and have little to no German culture. Ethnicity and peoplehood are based upon culture and not ancestry or race. I am an American from the Deep South. I AM Germanic because my culture comes from the Anglo-Saxons. The Anglo-Saxons and the Germans 'the Deutche' are different Germanic peoples in the same way that the Irish and Welsh are different Celtic peoples. Germanic is an ethno-linguistic group like Celts, Latin's, Slavs, Semites, Bantus, and the like. Denying their existence is like denying Slavs exist, it's very strange and requires a strange combination of bigotry and ability to deny basic reality that few posses.
