Yeah, I heard of it. But not only just linguistics, even philosophical questions often were raised. For example the problem of references, 1st and 2nd intesional in determining something that reffers to the word etc. Similar situation was in Russia. Recently, A. Zalizniak has died and he is a legendary scientist in linguistic. So, he fought with Fomenko's school in linguistics that taught to weird principles like 'there was no Ceasar', 'Alexander the Great is a myth'.
