Where Current Black Culture Really Comes From

Ummm Africa

When I say 'black culture' I am referring to the ones called African-Americans in the United States. The good people of Africa have countless different cultures, most of which has not much to do with with the culture of black Americans other than the Gullah on the coast of my state which are VERY culturally African and the black Creoles of New Orleans. The majority of the average African-American's cultural roots lie in Europe, specifically Southwest England/Wessex (ebonics is just a dead dialect from this region of England and used to be spoken by plantation owners in colonial Virginia. My source for this is historian David Hackett Fisher's book Albions Seed where he he even provides an excerpt from a poem written in the native dialect from that region at the time, and sure enough, that is exactly how blacks talk in the United States).

They picked up their culture from their slave masters. That is how acculturation works. A child growing up is in awe of someone, usually their parents or the adults and authorities in their society and they copy it instinctually. In this case, the awe in question was the terror that they felt from their owners. They were separated completely from their roots in Africa and were purposely made to abandon them through means of vicious barbaric terror. What else what they have to base any new culture that they would have to fill that with void off of? Well, it certainly wasn't Africans, all that was African was beaten out of them in a few generations. There is nothing African about them except their complexion, although they did retain some very small things like musical and culinary traditions, but in truth white Southerners have many of those same traditions. We were ever so slightly Africanized ourselves which a good thing. I like eating Southern cuisine when I go out in the country, though for the life of me I don't understand why black people call it 'soul food'. It's the same thing that white people eat with very small and insignificant differences. 

What's the point of being a literate, anyways, when the goal is to work in corporates?
