The Island of Retarded Mammoths.

Yeah, that was the point. Nobody usually views and discusses these threads so I wanted an eye catching title to get people interested and I thought, "I bet these mammoths had serious mental deficiencies from mating with their brothers and sisters essentially for thousands of years." Colloquially part of the reason they went extinct was because they were retarded. 

Anyways mission accomplished in the views department because this thread has way more views than the average thread in this section but no discussion unfortunately. I just find it fascinating when certain conditions isolate a very ancient thing in one place hidden from the world preserving it long past its expiration date creating a kind of "Lost World". It's why I am fascinated by Tibet before it's conquest by Maoist China. 

Tibet sits on a massive plateau that is hemmed in on dang near all sides by the gargantuan Himalayan mountains and was isolated from the rest of the world for the most part. Because of this it didn't really modernize socially and civilizationally and it was basically a "Medieval" feudal theocratic state ruled by a god king well into the 1950's and we have video tapes of that lost ancient fascinating world frozen in time. Then the bloody Chinese communists ruined it and are now trying to culturally exterminate the Tibetan people.
