When I was a kid I remember having this dream of becoming an adult, owning a home, getting married, having kids, coming home from a meaningful career and being embraced by my family when I got home. When I became an adult I realized that finding someone who checked all the boxes for me would be quite difficult in this day and age. Although I am not a religious person, there used to be an appeal of marriage for me when I was child. However now that appeal doesn’t really exist much anymore, I see it as a piece of paper and in many cases chains. The goal should really be about getting a partner who’s right for you, who shares your values and hopefully has some similar interests. That way you have someone to enjoy life with or at least for that time. Also I think the more life experience people have the more they start to realize being in love is for poets. The piece of paper concept is recent. In the past, government played no role in marriage and that is how it should be. See Marriage, a History. The purpose of marriage is to establish a commitment needed for a stable family. The commitment is usually recognized by a religious group to make it stronger.

But unreligious people still got married in the past without a religious group too. The commitment in the end lies in the couple to the extent they recognize it.

I'm too young to conceive of marriage. I imagine I will get married when I have committed to someone long enough.
Although, due the barren landscape of dating and sex for young people these days, I find it difficult to even find dates and partners. I think that that is one of the reasons why I've turned to homosexuality. Men are much easier to find.

If you're going to do it, make sure she's the right one that will stick with you.
Watch the movie ' redpilled ' just to get an idea of how bad of a deal marriage is for guys if she decides to leave.
I've seen hard working guys, who are away from their families working 24/4 12 hour day rotations to put in as much time as they could just to give their family a great life, who return home to see the kids and find all their stuff thrown on the lawn when they return.
A friend of mine had 3 kids and a wife who moved another guy into his house, the judge ordered him to pay for the mortgage, the note on her car, both lawyers, child support and keep her in ' the lifestyle she was accustomed to '
It worked out to 2x his pre-tax salary, he ended up living in a 1 man bowler trailer in a gravel pit, broke and homeless.
I doubt he's even still alive anymore.
Marriage is a BAD DEAL.

If you're a female, you'd better get married, but if you're a male, you'd better stay bachelor.
