Valve used to be the 'Good Guy' of game developers. From their outstanding hits in Half-Life, Team Fortress 2, Portal, Left 4 Dead and so on, they have dominated the PC market and revolutionized gaming. But somewhere along the way they had a fall from grace. They stopped selling games and started selling hats. Gambling, lawsuits, illegal activities, after 2011 Valve was getting involved in all kinds of shady stuff.
I played Half-Life and Left 4 Dead only. I don't know their other products.
Portal, Team Fortress 2, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Dota 2, and some others. Steam is the reason why Valve has dominated the PC gaming market.
No, I never played one of those. It's not a bad company, while I prefer Bethesda, Rockstar, SGC, and some others. Mostly I play quests or adventures. The arcades are not mine. For instance, BioShock's plot seems interesting, intriguing, and the arcade style of it isn't good. There was an old game The Berserk (Dreamcast), it had the incredible plot and strange gameplay. The same reason I don't like Final Fantasy series.
