Was you happy with no Internet? - I was. Can't say Internet has bought something good to me. Now people are spending 23/7 hours per week on the Internet, and this is horrible. I miss those super days when youth and grown-ups were walking parks with no self(ish) phones. They chatted to each other not through those damned messengers, but directly. There was no plague, and I guess there would be no plague if that parasite called Internet wouldn't come to our houses.
I doubt those globalization processes can be stopped. Modern youth don't even know how it be with no Internet. They think it is absolutely natural.
I wish something will be discovered that the Internet is a super bad for humanity, and then it will be destroyed for good! It will probably save all the humanity from this fast degradation.

I gotta say...I totally agree with you. Kids in school are also less focused these days. Too many distractions and now they sit with technology all day and don't get exercise. :(

I didn't start using the internet until I was a teenager and learned you could watch old WCW videos and episodes on youtube.

I have had fantastic times on the web. It can be a bit overwhelming though. The nature of happiness and almost everything in life is like a sine curve, ups and downs. The real unhappiness I have with the web is that so much of information is actually disinformation, and its a real fight for the soul of humanity.
I spent most of the 90's smoking dope, chasing pretty girls, listening to music, chasing a football or cricket-ball. Playing dungeons and dragons and those old much better 2-player computer games with 3 or 4 of us having turns to fight each other with spaceships and stuff on one pc. I enjoyed that too. None of that stopped me graduating with honors and a couple of fairly useless degrees.
But connecting with people all over the world has also been fascinating. I was thinking about how little music selection we used to have. A few cassettes played endlessly until they broke down. Now I can listen to anything.
But mostly, being able to just find out info has helped my physical health the most. And that alone is worth everything.
The kids in those days were mostly lazy just like today. The more things change, the more they stay the same. I am feeling very drained and bored today though. Information overload.

Yes, with this I totally agree with you is - a chance to chant with different people all over the planet. Even this gave me a tip to learn new languages to, at least, try to talk with people or to know about their cultures more. Unfortunately I couldn't travelling, it wasn't cheap for me. So, the Internet gave a really good chance in this area. Maybe I feel some uncomfortable with Internet, because my best years were spent without the web. I walked, read, played in bands, draw pictures, riding skateboard, and many other things. Most of the time I was alone, so that's why, I guess, reflected on my opinion.

Biggest difference against reality is the tempo. The next or opinion or whatever is always on the next click and you can never keep up fully. The "regular" life is just so slow in comparison. When my favorite forum died a few years ago I had a really hard time, I was one of the gods of that place. I suddenly had to realize I've put all my effort there instead of managing my real friends appropriately. I mean I dont really regret it but I could have been a bit less obsessed of my internet persona.

I had many good friends there. Do agree with you. You said a really brilliant thought. It's like you've treated me as a psychologist. I hate rushing. And some people sometimes complain of my long-time answers. I feel I have to think more on this or that. I don't know why but direct converstations of mine are usually less rushing. Maybe speaking to each other in a daily life is what we've used to do, while typing messenger's "hi", "lols", "rofls", and other weird half-alien symbols is a sign of new-coming troglodytic communities. Even dozens of thousands of bloggers work for "likes" - for those clicings...

I've heard that before and I think its because I've had some contact with them since I was 15 so I've learned some of their habits haha. The web is all about attention-whoreing, getting the most reaction with the least amount of effort. But I'm old enough to know how to transition to normal speech. Thing is, now that my aunts and grandmother and all are suddenly there then they're just BEGINNING this whole adventure of the internet. I want some people or relatives to really be outside the web so I can have "normal" conversations with them. But now everyone is there. Fishing for likes.

I can save the same about some of my relatives too. I guess for pre-millenials and even for sane millenials it is not so danger. Some of my students are also somewhere nearby of this view; they say that they'd rather use the web as we've been using cell phones previously /by 'we' - I mean the millenials and pre-millenials/. Anyway, I'm glad there are people who stay alert and think about of those many important things.

I think there is happiness beyond internet because in present generation people are leaving and ignoring things which brought happiness like we started ignoring trees, plants, fresh water streams and human values ethics etc Using internet make us feel sad, sober, depression etc. Well I'm not against internet but using in optimum manner is important for every human being

Ignoring this means ignoring the roots of us and our links with the past. Moreover, never seen trees, plants, fresh water or another thing automatically diminish or reduce our vocabulary and our ability to speak. Many words in different languages appeared because of the nature and communication or interaction with it. 'An apple' in not an icon of a certain brand, and 'a bird' isn't an image of a social web resource. It might be even dangerous: continuing the reduction our interactions with the nature can erase our words and, in turn, can make us speaking as just primitive organisms, because as George Orwell wrote about this that any totalitarian regimes try to make people think as less as possible by changing their amount of words to minimum.

I always think about my childhood with a smile on my face. It was a great time. I spent all my free time outdoors playing with my friends. We didn't have phones and didn't use the Internet, and we were happy. Everything happened in real life (talks, love, disputes, friendship, etc.). We were much more socialized than the modern generation. And I noticed that there were fewer children with mental disorders, depression, anxiety, panic attacks. I've been recently diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (I'm on tecfidera and feel fine now). My doctor told me that it is easier for me to manage this disease as I was healthy and active when I was a kid. I think we need to change something.

The internet is the best thing after the invention of hand-writing, printing, and of libraries, museums, and music halls, especially for people with disabilities or old age,if they crave to see the world or to learn about its peoples and cultures, and if they approach it with a critical mind.

if they approach it with a critical mind. Most people don't have a critical mind, so the internet is bad for most people.
