A Rich Person and the Death (African Parable)
One rich person had been living with a terrible thought about his own death. So he had a deal with the death: when he would be about to go to the other world, the death must have warn him about it for good, for to be prepared.
The rich lived in a peaceful calmness and knew only one thing to be worry about: to collect as much as possible money. "Why to be afraid of the death sooner? – a rich person though – When the death tells me to prepare I'll go praying in all my sins and my soul will be clean". He lived like that year by year.
One day the rich knew that the death had stolen a small goat from his herd. But a small goat for a rich was too plain, and he didn't even care to do anything.
In a while and a terrible sickness covered up his herds. A day a goat's or a horse's, or a bull's death.
The rich thought: "Let my herds die by the death, not me".
Then the rich's children and wife had gone. However, the rich was calm.
Recently the death appeared to the rich and told: "Let's go, your time has come".
The rich was mad: "You had promised! Yet now you're cheating?!"
The death anwered: "No, I kept it".
"You kept it?! – the rich shouted – You promised to warn me before anything! I cannot follow you, I hadn't prepared!"
"Haven't I told you? – the death responded – Each day I took your herds away. I knocked your doors. I took your wife and kids, so hadn't you realised yet? I did it for days. Maybe an elefant stomped on your ear, if you were deaf. So, come up, you go with me!"

I feel like there might be a lot of African prepardness for death stories. Didn't they usually take great care of their dead and prepared them for the after life especially the rich rulers?

I feel like there might be a lot of African prepardness for death stories. Didn't they usually take great care of their dead and prepared them for the after life especially the rich rulers? Elizabeth, don't you wanna say those Africans got that through their skulls just to horse around? No. The rich people came to them and ruined everything. The Africans perhaps are the most suffered ones f om thise rich programs. No rich people care about poor ones, and this parable is pretty clear tells about it. This parable doesn't tell about the death, it allows to taste how the death of the dead money smell. Rich people ruin everything, and that is what Gospels tell us too. And he told them this parable: “The ground of a certain rich man yielded an abundant harvest. 17 He thought to himself, ‘What shall I do? I have no place to store my crops.’
18 “Then he said, ‘This is what I’ll do. I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and there I will store my surplus grain. 19 And I’ll say to myself, “You have plenty of grain laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry.”’
20 “But God said to him, ‘You fool!(A) This very night your life will be demanded from you.(B) Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?’(C)
21 “This is how it will be with whoever stores up things for themselves but is not rich toward God.”(D)
